F-150 Truck

A: The locker inside the hub is getting stuck. If this is a design flaw and Ford is aware of this problem then they should fix it for you for free.

Q: Changing burned out map light bulbs in a F-150 truck with sunroof?
I have a 2006 F-150 truck with sunroof. One of my map light bulbs burned out so I need to replace it. I have already looked in my owner’s manual and also in the Hayne’s manual but they don’t show my light configuration. I tried prying out the light assembly but I don’t want to break the assembly. Am I on the right track and need to pry harder or is there a special trick to it?

A: you should be able to pull manually just apply even pressure. If any doubts go to any body shop and ask how to remove, most will help you

Q: How can I decorate my F-150 for Truck or Treat and include TMNT?
I have a Gold F-150 2000. My costume is a ninja turtle and I need a little help with how to decorate my truck. I am going to use a turtle sand box with dirt and some green styro-foam bowls (upside down) as a way for the kids to look for the candy. Also I have a bale of hay that all for of the TMNT cutouts will be stuck in. But the truck itself seems like it needs something.

Please Help!

A: I think you should make it look like a pizza delivery truck. Make signs to put on the doors and put a green light in the cab. Maybe play some cool music.

Q: How can i make my Ford F-150 truck have more fuel efficients?
i have a 1996 for f-150 and i want to know how to make it easier on gas and yet i owuld also love more horsepower to it and i dont want to put much money into it? cna oyu tell me some things i can do and the price range?

A: a true dual exhuast would be the best starting point. probably around $400 if you can run without cats. a cold air intake. and if you have the obd 2 computer get a power programer or better yet a custom tune the factory program is horribly inefficient.

Q: My ford F-150 truck is making a whining noise below the stick shift…any ideas on what could be the problem?
1984 Ford F-150…it has never mad this noise before…and now it’s getting louder…please help.

A: sounds like the throw out bearing is acting up, But first I would ensure that the trans fluid is at the proper level.

if you have a cottman transmission shop they will do a 21 point evaluation to pin point the problem, Free of charge.

Q: Where do I find the ignition output wire and the starter output wire for a Ford F-150 Truck?
I’m trying to install a remote starter and security system in my truck and I’m not sure how to find these wires so I thought I’d ask. Also a friend of mine told me to get put the wires that go from the interior to the engine by putting the wires through the steering column. Is there a better way? Thanks.

A: You can drill a hole in the fire wall or look for rubber grommet and slip a screw driver to enlarge it then put your wires thru. Last, find the starter wire and splice into it, normally located in the steering coulomb; get a manual that covers your car, it will have the wiring info. You can try auto parts stores or public library.

Q: I have a 1957 272 V-8 engine and was wondering if and how it could be installed in a 1988 Ford F-150 truck?
The motor has been professionally rebuilt and would be nice if I could put it in a newer model truck. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

A: just weld in the correct motor mounts..
you will need the old bell housing and trans
the high pressure fuel pump will need to be disconected.
the motor would be beter put to use in a street rod

Q: How do you check the manual transmission fluid on a 2005 F-150 truck?
I can’t find the dip stick to check the fluid level for this 5-spd
manual transmission, help please !!! It has a 4.2L V6 engine.

A: Under the truck, on the side of the transmission there is a filler plug. The oil level is determined by removing this plug and filling until oil comes out of the hole. Same with the differentials.

Q: How do I take the dashboard off my 2007 Ford F-150 Truck?
I am trying to remove the radio I got installed a year ago by myself to send in for a warranty issue but I am not sure how to remove the dash on my truck to take it out. If someone can direct me that would be wonderful. Thanks GregK

A: You should be able to grasp the trim panel that goes around the radio and climate control panel and carefully pull it straight back away from the radio and it should pop off, unplug the wires and set it aside. After that there are 4 screws that hold the audio unit to the instrument panel, remove them, unhook the wires and antenna and the radio should be free. I included the Ford directions but they are pretty vague.

Removal and Installation

NOTE: If installing a new navigation audio unit, remove the navigation digital versatile disc (DVD) if possible, before sending the audio unit to an authorized audio system repair facility.

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the audio unit to retrieve the part number. For additional information, refer to Audio Unit Part Number Retrieval in this section.

Remove the instrument panel center finish panel.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Remove the 4 screws and the audio unit.
Disconnect the electrical connectors and the antenna cable.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Q: How do I build a dog box for a F-150 truck extended cab?
Does any one have any idea how to build one or where I can get some plans to build one at?
I only have 2 medium sized dogs. I only need one door does not have to be a doubled sided box. But if you know plans for a double box ill use them too. If needed I can post up the demininsions I would rather the box to be.
Thanks for the help guys.

A: I used to have a nice book from Black and Decker that showed plans for dog houses and dog truck boxes. Now I can’t find it I think someone borrowed it.
I found a few by doing a google search for – “how to” truck “dog box” – Here is one.

http://www.ehow.com/how_5498349_design-dog-box-truck.html

Or you could look for a Black and decker book at the library or book store.

Q: How do I adjust the angle of the headlights on a 2004 Ford F-150 truck?
I am trying to adjust the light beam out further so I can see more of the road in front of me at night.

A: Park your vehicle on a level surface approximately 10 feet from a wall. Measure the distance from the ground to the center of the headlight. Mark that measurement on the wall. Turn on your low beams and adjust the aiming screw so the beam is centered on the mark. Turn on the high beams and and measure the distance from the low beam mark. It should be approximately 2 inches lower. Any higher on these measurements and you will be blinding oncoming traffic. Good Luck.

Q: Why does my 1998 F-150 truck not start after replacing battery?
it started once after replacing battery but went back a couple of hours later and all it does is turn over?

A: Sounds to me like your battery needs charged up, even though its new that doesn’t mean its not charged to full capacity! It may have sat for awhile on the shelf at the store where you bought it at.
Check you cables and ground to make sure clean and tight!!

Q: anyone selling a used ford F-150 truck that runs and can pass nj inspection?
Looking for a used work truck not looking to spend to much but will consider any good offers.

A: CHECK ON THE TRUCKTRADER OR CRAIGSLIST.

GOOD LUCK

Q: Is there a such thing as a 3/4 ton Ford F-150 and how much weight can a 3/4 truck pull?
Im looking to buy a 1992 Ford F-150 plow truck and the guy selling it said that it is a 3/4 ton F-150,which I have never heard of.I also want it to pull my skid-steer loader & trailer.

A: ok there is no such thing
f-150=1/2ton
f-250=3/4ton
f-350=1ton
f-450=1 1/2ton
and so on there is no 3/4ton f-150 but there is a 250
it may be a heavy duty but to pull the skid steer you will need a 250

don’t listen to Mandy she’s wrong, as a matter of fact the rating has nothing to do with the payload
a.k.a you should get a f-250

Q: got a F-150 4×4 truck do i need to pull rear drive shaft to pull it with a car dolly?
Transmission messed up in Ford F-150 needs to be pulled with a car dolly,do i need to take out the rear drive shaft to be able to do this safely?

A: If you have to transport over 20 miles, I would suggest removing it, don’t need to cause damage to the transfer case as well.
