Q: What would cause my new battery in Ford F250 diesel to go dead?
I have a 1992 Ford F250 Diesel pickup. Two weeks ago I replaced both batteries as the old ones were testing bad. The truck cranked and ran fine, showing a positive charge on the in-dash voltmeter. I drove it for several days until the batteries finally went dead. After driving the truck for an hour across town, I killed the engine, and when I tried to start it 5 minutes later, the engine turned over once or twice until it was obvious the battery was completely drained. Any ideas? Could a voltage regulator be the culprit?
A: Go to autozone have them test the alternator.

Q: How to replace a power steering hose on a 1995 Ford F250 diesel 4×4?
I have to replace the power steering hose on my 1995 Ford F250 diesel 4×4. I have a manual and that’s great except it’s a very tight area. Any suggestions? I ask seriously so please respond so. Thank You
A: Grab a set of wrenches, unscrew the ends, and pull it out. If there is stuff in your way, move it. I didn’t have to move anything to get to the hoses. I guess if you’re scared to get dirty, it could be a problem but otherwise just dive in there! The ends are easy to cross thread since the last couple inches of the ends are metal lines so make sure it’s lined up properly before you start tightening it up.
Q: Does a lift kit on an F250 affect the trucks power and acceleration?
I have an F250 with a lift and have noticed that it is not as responsive at higher speeds. If I am going 55 and want to pass it slowly accelerates even in a passing gear. Would the lift and larger off road tires affect this?
A: The lift kit probably doesn’t probably affect it as much as the big tires, but both do. The added height affects the aerodynamics of the truck and the larger wheels and tires add weight. The fact that the tires are designed for off road use make them poor street performers as well. But at least if you come upon a highway scattered with rocks and tree branches you’ll be prepared!
Q: Where is the back up light switch located on a 1979 Ford F250 Custom?
My husband just recently bought a 1979 Ford F250 Custom and is having trouble finding the location of the back up light switch. We’ve googled but have not turned up anything. A few of his friends gave suggestions. If anyone could shed some light as to where it might be it would be much appreciated.
A: It would be on the tranny at a location where the shift linkage could contact it when moved to reverse.
Q: What should use to paint my 71 Ford F250?
I just got a 1971 Ford F250 3/4 ton. It’s white but it looks pretty rough and has numerous rust spots throughout. I’m planning on painting it myself and already know the basic process. Now I’m deciding what type of paint I should use and whether I should just paint it white or change the color.
A: Realize if you want to change the color your going to have to go thru the hassle of repainting the door jambs, inside of the doors, tail gate jambs, under the hood, etc…. This might seem like an easy task but its actually is a very time consuming process….. I changed the color on an S10 from Silver to white and it took more than twice the labor…. I even had to unbolt the pickup box and put it on saw horses so I could paint the back of the cab and front of the box correctly…. It looked great but what a headache….
I changed one ford truck from town truck school bus yellow to red…. On that one I actually painted the jambs with a brush using rustoleum red paint…. Doing all the jambs, under the hood, and between the box took about 6 hours total with a helper…. We de-greased the jambs of oil and wet sanded them with 600 grit paper…. I didn’t completely remove the rear box… Just unbolted it and moved it back enough to get between them and roll them with a clothe roller to get the paint in-between there….
The prepped the outside of the truck so it could be sprayed with regualr auto painy….
Type of paint?… Base coat clear coat is the best but costs a fortune…. Figure over $300 for a large pickup and don’t be surprised if the price reaches $500 or more….
Single stage enamel is cheap but the shine doesnt hold up for long….
Consider single stage urethane…. Its priced right and gives decent results…..
Q: What kind of gas mileage does a 2003 Ford F250 get?
Its a 2003 Ford Crew Cab V10 F250 with 4WD. I tow a lot andI know that makes a difference!
I’ve been towing with a 2001 Chevy Suburban and it just can handle the weight anymore.
A: The V10 is very thirsty, especially towing. The diesel would be much better.
Q: Radio, windows and interior lights quit working at times on Ford F250 diesel while driving?
While my husband is driving his Ford F250 diesel all of a sudden his radio will stop working, he can’t roll the automatic windows down, and the interior lights will not work but the eject button will still work. He is very frustrated because his air conditioning also is not working. When he drives for awhile the radio, etc will suddenly start working again. What could be causing this? Thank you!
A: i have no idea!
Q: How do we change the keyless entry code on our Ford F250 Lariat truck?
We have a “new” used 2004 Ford F250 and I’d like to use the keyless entry option…the numbers on the outside. The manual says the 5 digit code is on a card in the glove compartment, but it’s not and I must the the factory set code to change it. What do we do? I don’t want to go to the dealership and pay to reset..Thanks for any help.
A: If you can’t find the label, then the dealer is the only way. They don’t charge if you are nice about it.

It’s not hard for them to do.
Q: On an F250 transmission, what is the compartment with a tube (vent) sticking out horizontally from it?
On my F250 7.3 turbo diesel: While backing a trailer up a slight grade in 4WD, tranny fluid started spewing from the horizontal tube of the compartment just forward of the main transmission fluid pan. Upon further investigation I discovered that a corner bolt was completely missing that helps hold the thin metal plate to the bottom of this compartment. What is the compartment and the tube that I am describing, and what would cause tranny fluid to gush from this compartment?
A: this is called the trans pan. the valve body is located under the pan. the tube you are referring to is called the vent tube. it is located on the top of the transmission. fluid will come out of the vent on this transmission when it is overheating. this is not good. have an after market cooler installed on the vehicle. this will help with the trans and help to keep the fluid cooler. the transmission is called an E4OD.
Q: Im looking at buying a 1997 Ford f250 powerstroke 4×4 with a 7 inch lift. What mpg will i be looking at
Im looking to buy a local f250 here in texas that i can use as a daily driver. Its a manual tranny and has 39.5 inch mudders. Would fuel economy suck on this kind of setup? I will be driving about 1.2k miles a month. Thanks for any input
What if the mud tires were replaced for some smaller ones, would my MPG’s be better?
A: puting smaller tires will help your fuel milage. if you want to put some money in it and get a little more power and better fuel milage out of it a chip and maby 90 hp injectors will help along with exheust and intake. i got about 3.5 more mpg with my dodge just by buting a chip in it the trick with that is you just have to keep you foot out of the throttle hard to do some times
