just the 2002 camaro camaro http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/camaro/2002/consumerreview.html
It’s best to read as there are many little differences between the two and am not sure what your wanting. Both sites give you a run down on the conusmer review and the differences between the two, including seat configuration and engine output.
Q: Why does a 2002 camaro z28 beat a 2010 camaro v6 in fuel economy and performance?
The new v6 camaro gets 26 mpg on the highway, 300 hp, and a 0-60 time of 6.1. A 2002 camaro z28 gets 26 mpg highway, 305 hp, and a 0-60 time of 5.3.
A: First off, despite being rated at 305hp, they actually make 350hp. Second, those numbers are ESTIMATES. A lot of variables decide the fuel economy of vehicles.
Q: 1995 Z28 light on the dash that is a square with arrow pointing down, what is it?
Just bought 95 Z28 6 speed with lt1 engine & don’t have book. Need to know what idiot lights are.
Just bought 95 Z28 6 speed & don’t have book. Not a downshift light because it is always on. Looks like a squiggley line underneath possibly indicating a fluid.
A: it’s a down shift light so you dont lug the motor
Q: What’s the difference between camaro ss and z28 4th generation?
I want to know the difference between the LT SS and Z28 and The LS-1 SS and Z28? Also the slp and any other performance 4th gen camaros. would be great if you could include 4th gen firebirds too
A: Mostly cosmetic. Ram air hoods, different wheels, and the rear spoiler looks different.
In the 30 anniversary editions (1997) a limited number of the SS’s had the LT4 engine.
Q: What is the difference between a 1993-02 Camaro SS or Z28?
What is the difference between the 1993-02 Camaro SS or Z28? Which model trim is higher between the SS or the Z28? I believe the RS is the base model with the V6 engine and the SS and the Z28 comes with the V8 engines.
I have a friend who used to own a 1997 Camaro SS V8 w/leather interior.
A: Camaro – base model which comes with a Series II 3800 3.8L V6 engine rated at 200 HP. Prior to 1996, the standard engine was a 3.4L V6 with 160 HP with the 3.8L being an option in mid-1995. A 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic (4L60E) transmission is available. A performance package (Y87) is also available starting in 1996 which includes a posi rear, rear disc brakes, 3.42 gearing in the A4, exhaust pipes/tips on both sides, and sport steering ratio.
RS – appearance package available starting in 1996 for the base Camaro (V6) only. It includes ground effects and an up-level spoiler. “RS” badges are located on the front fenders and rear passenger bumper. In 1998 the RS was dropped, however the appearance package was still available as an option.
Z28 – The high end model. From 1993 – 1995 it came with a 275HP 5.7L V8 (LT1) engine. In 1996 power was increased to 285HP by going to a 2 catalytic converter setup. In 1998 the Z28 went to the all new LS1 which was rated at 305 HP and 335 ft-lbs of torque. A black roof treatment was standard on all 1993 and 1994 Z28s, and 1995 models and later offered a roof that was the same color as the rest of the body as an option. A 6-speed (Borg-Warner T-56) or 4-speed automatic (4L60E) transmission is available. The suspension and brakes are enhanced for improved handling. Two available Preferred Equipment Groups make the car either moderately or fully loaded. “Z28″ badges are located on the front fenders and rear passenger bumper. In 1993, an Indy 500 Pace Car version (with automatic transmission) was made with a black and white paint scheme and multi-colored paint stripes along each side of the car.
SS – available as an upgrade to the Z28 model starting in late-1995 (as a 1996 model). The package include a functional ram air hood scoop and reworked exhaust manifolds resulting in 305 HP and 335 ft-lbs of torque. An optional freer flowing exhaust system brings HP to 315 and torque to 342 ft-lbs. In 1998 with the introduction of the LS1 engine, power was boosted to 320HP, and with the optional SLP exhaust power was boosted to 327HP. The stock wheels and tires are replaced with 5-spoke 17″ ZR-1 style wheels with 275/40ZR/17 tires. Hurst shifter and Torsen differential were available options. Bilstein shocks, stiffer rate springs/bushings, and a larger front sway bar make up the optional Level-II suspension. The stock spoiler is replaced with sleeker looking one. “SS” badges replace the “Z28″ badges on the front fenders and rear passenger bumper. All cars were shipped as stock Z28s to Street Legal Performance (SLP) Engineering where the above modifications were made through 1997. After that, GM made the modifications on its own assembly line.
SS/LT4 – available only in 1997 with all of the standard and optional SS equipment, but the LT1 was replaced by a balanced and blueprinted LT4 engine with 330 HP. Additionally, they got a new stainless steel exhaust system and exhaust manifolds, and a new Bilstein performance suspension set-up. The cars had to be special ordered as 30th Anniversary cars with a 6-speed transmission, and no T-tops or convertible, and they were then sent to SLP for modification. Production was limited to 100 cars.
Q: How much would a 1994 Camaro z28 be to insure for a 18 year old?
I am 18 and my friend is willing to give me a good deal on his 1994 Camaro z28. I have had my license since i was 16 and have had no tickets, accidents, or anything of that sort. I have a good driving record. I live in Michigan and i was wondering how much around would i be looking at for insurance? I only want PLPD since i can fix them myself.
A: A lot. Young male with a fast car means your insurance will be very high.
Q: How much should it cost to install a rebuilt engine in a 1987 Camaro Z28?
My son has a 1987 Camaro Z28 (auto transmission) with a bad engine that can’t be repaired. I’m wondering what it should cost to have the current engine removed and rebuilt 350 engine installed. I have a price of $1,600 from a mechanic who has good references to remove the engine, rebuild a 350 engine from an existing block and install the rebuilt engine. Is this a reasonable price? What type of guarantee on parts and labor would be reasonable?
A: That actually sounds like a pretty good price if it includes parts for the rebuild. I think 1 year warranty is good enough on a rebuilt engine.
Q: How is the handleing and performance on a 1979 z28 camaro with a 4 speed in it? Are these good cars?
Are parts alot for these cars? Where are some site I could find performance parts for this car?
Please give your opinion thank you I need your help with this. Its either this or a 2000 z28 please give me your opinion!
A: Chase, I answered your later question with my general opinion, but you’re asking something different here about the ‘79.
There’s a fairly robust aftermarket for resto and performance parts for the ‘79 – finally I notice they’re making more of the interior parts. Handling and performance stock is a little weak, but consider this: you can put poly bushings and biscuits all around, tubular upper/lower control arms, front and rear hollow sway bars, performance adjustable shocks and variable rate springs on these cars and make them handle much, much better. It wouldn’t be stock/restoration, but believe me, they can be tuned to handle with the best of them. Summit, Jeg’s, Year One, SSBC, – all of the big performance houses have performance bits for the ‘79.
Check my other post for more details on how each one handles fairly stock, though.
Q: Is a 1986 camaro z28 supposed to have a schroud?
I have a 1986 camaro z28 with a 305 engine, is there supposed to be a schroud on the radiator?
A: yes.
Q: How do you adjust the timing on a 93 Z28?
My Z28 has been having the symptoms of needing it’s timing adjusted. I’m not too familiar with domestics but I always thought you rotate the distributor to adjust the timing. I can’t even find the dizzy underneath the hood, anyone mind helping me out? Do you even use the distributor? If not, what do you use?
Don’t have the money to pay to have it diagnosed. The problem is its running sluggish. When I first start it up in the morning it runs like complete trash and backfires if I give it enough throttle. After it warms up it runs a little better and doesn’t backfire anymore. It still runs a little sluggish and I have to give it a little more throttle than usual to accelerate. It’s something that controls all the cylinders, not just one. So I’m starting with something that can be adjusted to save money. Is there anyway to adjust the timing?
Not getting a check engine light.
A: no distributor on this car try coil packs go from spark plug wire up may need to replace a pack
Q: What is the correct tire size for a 1997 chevy camaro z28?
Hi, i am a proud owner of a 1997 chevy camaro z28 30 year special anniversery edition. I dont have the owners manual anymore that came with the car and need to find out what the correct tire size is that should be on there.
A: the manual should tell you where the sticker for tires size/ pressure is
Q: How many pounds of presssure should read on the low side ac on a 95 camaro z28?
How many pounds should my guage read on the low pressure side of the ac system on a 95 z28? (While the car is running with compressor engaged/on) What about the reading when the car is off? Thanks!
A: Should be around 30-50 psi while the compressor is running. When it drops to 25 psi or so the compressor will cycle off. When pressure returns to 50-60 psi the compressor should cycle back on. With car off both high and low side readings should be about the same as the outside temperature. (70 degree day pressures should be around 70psi)
Q: How do you empty a gas tank to replace the fuel pump on a 94 Camaro Z28?
I have a 94 Camaro Z28 and it’s been sitting for a year. It doesn’t crank because the fuel pump is damaged. The gas tank is full, though. Does the gas go bad after it’s been sitting for a year? How can I drop the gas tank and replace the fuel pump when the tank is full of gas? What are the steps to replacing the fuel pump, too.
A: first of all its good that it wont start because your fuel is bad.. it goes abd after about 50 -60 day unless treated with some kind of stabilizer… just syphon the gas out with your mouth or one of them syphon pumps then put a 2 by 4 on your jack and pull the tank down… its simple, but if it has a screen to were you cant get a hose in there you will have to drop the gas tank down full and empty it by hand.
Q: How do I telll if a Chevrolet Camaro is a real Z28?
In particular a 1973. Is it the Z28 on the data plate or the engine code in the vin; both?
A: It will be on the trim tag, driver side cowl area. The option code for Z/28 will be dead center of the plate. If it was originally ordered with racing stripes it will be something like Z28 YF8 and Also, if it is an original Z/28 the fifth digit of the VIN# will be a “T”.
Q: What features are in a z28 camaro that aren’t in a ’standard’ camaro?
I am looking at 4th Generation camaros (94-02) and cannot figure out what features are in the z28 that are not in a ‘normal’ camaro. Specifically 98-02 camaros. Is it worth make sure I have a z28 or do all camaros during that time period pretty much rock?
A: V8 POWER! dual exhaust and probably bigger rear axle.
