Classic Auto Insurance
I live in NY, so company must be available in NY, and be cheap.
Thanks.
A: Classic & antique auto insurance is always full coverage (based on the current value) & always very cheap. You will need a full time use vehicle for every driver in your household & the vehicle must not be driven more than 1500 miles per yr, mostly for shows, etc.
Try a local independent agent & see if they write with Condon & Skelly. They are my favorite for antique auto insurance.
Other companies (brokers actually) would be JCTaylor & Hagerty.

Q: I’m selling my classic corvette ! What about the test driver?
I’m offering my classic corvette for sale, and concerned about buyers who will test drive it. Will the individuals’ auto insurance cover me if they drive my car and have a fender bender? What do I need to ask for as proof of insurance? The car is extremely valuable. Thanks.
A: if they want assurance the car drives well then you should drive it, your insurance is accountable as long as it is in your name.
Q: what insurance company sould i insure my boat through?

A: No doubt the easiest way to get insurance quotes is on the web.
Why would you waste your time on the phone calling around?
the last time i needed quotes on insurance i used one of these comparison sites and it was great.
this is the site i used and it was quick like less than 5 mins.
The last thing I want to do is listen to elevator music while waiting for a salesman.
Anyway I got good quotes and ended up saving money so I was happy.
So shop around and compare quotes which is easy on the net.
Good starting point is at this site.

Good luck.
Q: Can I pay insurance on my liscence rather than vehicle by vehicle basis?
So right now i am paying auto insurance on a single vehicle, and i want to purchase a second vehicle which would be used maybe 4-8 times a month. My insurance agent (state farm) says i would have to pay insurance on both vehicles seperatly, something i financially dont want to do…i dont want to pay even just the minimum on a vehicle that is not going to be my primary driver. (It is not a “classic” otherwise i would just get the carshow exemption)
I have heard from several sources but havnt been able to confim, that there is a type of auto insurance where you pay the premiums to insure your liscence (rather than individual vehicles), leaving you free to drive any vehicle that is titled to you. Is this true? and if so how can i get it?!
A: I’ve never heard of any insurance like that.
You should get a multiple vehicle discount & you don’t have to have full coverage on it.
Q: 1967 mustang totaled?
last week a woman pulled out infront of me on the highway i was going 60 and slammed into her, my car as of what i know is totalled by the insurance company.. they are saying that it will cost 12k to fix it so they totalled it in my opinion its worth much more how can i get more money? i havent recieved the check or anything yet so i can still get more can i not? someone suggested going to a classic auto dealer and getting their opinion on what it’s worth. ty for any suggestions
A: state farm told me if i didnt have it appraised for my 66 mustang, they would go to three ford dealers an ask what its worth an average that an that would be the check i would get, so yes its prolly worth more than that but if u dont do the legg work thats prolly all ur going to get good luck
Q: What are the safeguards?
So Max Baucus has submitted a plan for healthcare reform, and there is a fine for anyone under 55 who does not buy health insurance. Is there a provision in his plan to make sure the Insurance companies won’t rape the people with price hikes in premiums once everyone is required to buy insurance? About 20 years ago California Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi pushed a law requiring everyone to have auto insurance, prior to the law being passed I was paying $75.00 per month for full coverage on a classic van and a honda cx500 motorcycle I was 22 years old with no accidents or tickets. After the law was passed my insurance company raised my premium to $375.00 I had to sell my motorcycle and drop my coverage to just liability on my van, just because there was now a requirement to have insurance, the insurers knew they had everyone over a barrel and they could charge what they wanted because the law said everyone had to have insurance, so I ask, does Bacaus have provisions to prevent the companies from raping the people who would be REQUIRED to by insurance under his plan?
A: You’ve got some great points there. See, this is what none of us know because we aren’t being made aware of it.
If people are going to be fined, then health insurance needs to be made affordable – very affordable so these folks can jump on board and get annual insurance that is LESS than the fine.
These people will need to have more pay, of course, which means a business will have to charge more for their services, which right now a lot of people can’t afford to buy their products or use their services. Hence, more people will get laid off from those businesses (the very small ones – which are a great backbone of America) and have no means to pay – or those businesses will fold altogether.
No health insurance company should raise the premiums so high (for pre-existing conditions) that a person can’t afford to get insurance. Remember, there are a lot of those people out there. They work like everyone else does, yet the company they work for cannot afford health insurance for their employees and make a profit – even a small one.
As it is, many small and large businesses are having a difficult time right now staying afloat.
Take the mega-corp. IBM – a family of four gets insurance through the company, but what people don’t know is that the family deductible is over $5000k a year and the worker pays $800 to $900 a month for their portion of the health insurance.
Granted, this is affordable for those making $100k annually and over but that’s not most of their employees.
As it is, going to ER every time something minor happens to an uninsured person is not at all right. The insured pay for that big time.
On the other hand, it’s not going to work either if someone has a backache, a broken wrist and a cold – and has to come back THREE times to get authorized for each problem.
I’m getting thoroughly disgusted with Baucus. I wish these jackasses would get on board and figure out something that works for MOST people.
Q: First Car Suggestions for Young Adult?
heyy so I just got my lisence and I’m almost 18, so my rents and I are talking about cars and what I should get when I move out. But I’m totally stumped. I move out this summer, to move in with my soon to be husband. Since he’s stationed in the desert with nothing really around [afb in new mexico] I’ll definetly need my own vehicle, to get around and stuff.
My mother and I took out the Pontiac G5 Coupe for a test drive a couple months ago, I wasn’t the one driving, but I absolutely love it.
Other cars I’m looking at are the Ford Fusion, Mazda 6
I’m by no means a girly girl, I took auto in all of high school for goodness sakes. So please please pleaseeee don’t suggest a kia, hyundai or a honda civic. As I would never be caught dead driving one.
In your opinion which of those 3 makes/models do you like the most? If none of the 3 above, which do you recommend? any suggestions?
thanks bunches
hollyy
disclaimer – because I know this will come up. I’m not a spoiled brat, I do have a job [hostess at Moxie's Classic Grill] so I will be paying for the vehicle/insurance myself, and I’ve already got some money saved up.
yeeeeah
but I’m not a statistic
A: the pontiac G5 is a bad ass car id go with that for sure. i drove a G6 and i loved it. They are surprisingly quick. i would never buy a ford ie. look around the junk yard that’s like all you will see. if you want a really reliable, good on gas car then go with a honda. but it doesn’t seem like you want a granny car, neither would i; go with the G5. i wouldn’t get red i like red on a lot of cars but i think it makes the G5 look cheap. i also hear the trunk opening is really small so if your in the mafia its not the car for you lol. the statistics are way off by the way i have never crashed and i’ve been driving for 3 years and most of my friends haven’t ether
Good Luck, drive safe; but not to safe
Q: i need a used car, which one should i get?!?
hey i am a 19 year guy who is attending college in LA, California, i have saved up two thousand dollars ($2000). i just got my drivers license and want a used car. i have three cars in mind, toyota corolla (1990-94), honda accord (1990-94), and a classic vw bug (1966-73).
i have two older brothers and one has a classic vw bug and the other a 94 honda accord. i have rode in both of them, the vw bug seems to very unconfortable because of the suspension, and the stick shifting but i just love them (since i was 16). on the other hand, my other brothers honda accord is very comfortable with ac/heater and is an auto, not to mention that it seems way safer. for the corolla my aunt had a 90s one and she has said the car seems to like taking beatings.
so with a $2000 budget, what should i get?
i was told vw bugs are cheap to maintain, and that some get good gas mileage.
i like the way the accord handles, but are they expensive to fix? and are they problematic?
i have on my own researched corollas and tercels, some people seem to find them convenient, are they?
please keep in mind that i am only a college student, i have no job yet, but my father is willing to pinch in for the insurance. also i live only about four (4) miles away from college, and i plan to work close, also ill rather spend on gas than on public transit (10$ a week).
sorry for making it that long but i really want advice from some experienced car owners, thanks for reading
A: With only 2,000 dollars, I do not think you can really get a reliable car. But if you really must get a car, then get a honda civic or toyota corolla. They are cheap in parts.
