A: drive 4 is overdrive- this is for when you are on the high way it saves gas. You will normally always drive in d4

Q: honda accord?
how much is a honda accord ex 1998 v6 coupe with 174,000 on it worth, say if it’s in good condition and well maintain
Canadian prices
and i’m well aware of checking autotraders, blackbook, and kbb
just asking for personal opinions

A: got it from kelly blue book -
Condition Value

Excellent
$6,110

Good
$5,515

Fair
$4,760

Q: Honda ACCORD?
i have a 1997 honda accord ex, aut trans, i took it to the mechanic and got it checked..he gave me a paper which had the things that needed to get fix. it said my front left motor mount is broken and needed a new one….am i was lookin them up online.and i got..engine motor mount,,and transmission mount ?which one is the right one? and how much is it…thanks..in advance

A: Motor mount is a hard rubber block to absorb the vibration and movement from motor. Should be around $150 to $200 to replace it. Fairly easy job. U must get under car and jack up motor a couple of inches them replace mount. usually 3 to 4 bolts hold it in place.

Q: How does the 06 Honda Accord V6 compare to the 2010 coupe?
I recently came into a decent sum of money, and I’ve been meaning to trade in my 06 Honda Accord V6 for the new 2010 V6 Honda Accord Coupe. I was wondering how the quality of the vehicle compares to my current ride. They always say “never assume the new model of the same car you’re driving is as good as what you have.” Thought I’d ask. Anyone know?

A: It’s a Honda, there is no quality.

It would seem if you came in a decent sum of money you would buy a decent vehicle.

Q: How is the 1997 Honda Accord Special Edition 4D different from the other accords?
I saw a ad for a 1997 Honda Accord Special Edition 4D. I was wondering what’s special about this car, how is it different from the regular 1997 accord.

A: All the SE is, is a lx with some ex options. and maybe some different cosmetics

Q: What is the difference between the Honda Accord and the Accord Euro?
I saw the new Accord is larger than the current (replace in June) Accord Euro in the dimension data but the prices of the Accord starts lower.
Is it the same car with different body panel or where do Honda try to place the two models in the market? I am a non-Australian planning to buy a car.

A: The Euro Accord is the North American Acura TSX (which was said above). The basically have the same chassis, but the engine, body panels, and level of luxury are different. The 2008 Accord (N. American) is totally redesigned and the 2009 Acura TSX/ Euro Accord will again have the same basic platform as the N. American Accord. Here’s the pics of the Euro Accord/ Acura TSX http://www.thetorquereport.com/2008/02/geneva_2008_preview_2009_euro.html . I think the reason why the 2008 Accord starts lower than the Euro Accord is because it’s basically an Acura, and that is Honda’s high-end car company. Acuras come standard with things that are optional on Hondas, so they can charge more for the car. I hope this helps you, good luck with your car search.

Q: Would the honda accord or honda civic be a better used car buy?
I’ve heard honda accords and civics are two great reliable used cars to buy. You can find fairly new models for cheap. I’ve heard the accord is better then the civic in todays models but what about a 2002 or somewhere around there. Also I only have about 5000 to spend, is an accord still in that price range.

A: Alright a Accord is a few thousands more than a civic but with 5,000 the best thing to do is to look for a Honda Civic Ex not lx EX go on autotrader or go on msn and click on autos then select the year you like and can afford which you may buy a 2000-2002 Civic with 5000 cash and compare it to the accord or other cars that competes with it also if you compare it on msn sometimes they give you the wrong model trim remember ex is better because you have a faster car and a sunroof and more.

Hope it works out

Q: What causes a 1994 honda accord to overheat at a light?
WE have a 1994 Honda Accord Ex that runs great, except that it overheats at a light or when just sitting. Driving is no problem, but sitting or idling – it overheats. AC is very cold but no heat comes out when turned on. We have noticed that sometimes the fans near the radiator cut off and sometimes they run. Is this an expensive problem or cheap? Thanks!

A: new radiator , or new fan mtr sensor ?

Q: How does the 2008 honda accord ex-l look in black?
I’m planning to buy a 2008 honda accord and I was just wondering how it looked in black. I haven’t seen honda show it off so I was a bit concerned that It might not look to good. Honda usually shows off their metallic gray and midnight blue.

A: The Accord EX-L looks very nice in black. I saw one a coupe black EX-L the other day and just last week i saw a black EX-L sedan at the Honda dealer while getting my Prelude serviced.

Sedan:
http://www.autobase.com/photos/large/03650028.jpg
Coupe:

http://automobiles.honda.com/images/2008/accord-coupe/customize/base_car/BK_exl_34FRONT.jpg

The reason you don’t see them being show off though is because black has become a played out color for Honda, more people are buying the gray/blue/white cars nowadays than black.

Q: How do you remove 1990 honda accord door panel?
I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX and Im putting in new Kicker ssmb65’s. I attempted to take the door panels off one time, but I guess I couldnt find all of the screws/clips to take off.

A: Unsnap panel behind mirror from the top and remove.

Open plastic screw cap inside door handle area using small thin screwdriver and remove screw. The cap swings from the narrow hinged side. It is easy to break. Slide handle assembly forward to release hooks. Lift out from panel slightly and release clip on linkage rod with small screwdriver. Unplug switch from assembly.

Remove plug from inside armrest cup and remove screw.

Look for plug covering screw below armrest and toward outer edge of door. Remove.

Grab lower edge of panel near speaker grill and pull outward. Continue working toward outer edge, pulling lower edge of panel.

When bottom is free, work up both sides unsnapping clips.

When all clips are loose, lift up on the panel to remove from top track.

You will need to unplug the window switches and the door light.

Q: Anyone know how to fix a 1996 Honda Accord spedometer that only works once in a while?
Our 1996 Honda Accord spedometer works only sometimes, usually at freeway speeds only. Someone replaced one part for me (can’t remember which part, but it was supposed to be the major one that all Honda’s have trouble with) but that didn’t make a difference. I’ve heard there are two major parts, and now I probably need the other one? I also hear this “other” part is expensive. Anyone here have a similar problem, or a mechanic that can explain it? Thanks everyone!

A: I had the same issue in my girlfriends 97 Accord Ex. I replaced the speedometer cable and all was well. After replaceing the cable I tore the old one apart and it was heavily corroded causing it to catch. The other part would be the vehicle speed sensor in the top of the transmission on the passenger side. On the automatics, some people remove the senser to top off the fluid,If it is not seated correctly or damaged this can cause a bad reading. Both of these parts should be available new on eBay for cheap.

Q: How much will a honda accord bumper and trunk replacement cost?
I rear ended a honda accord at 5 mph. My massive yukon ate it for breakfast. Theres not a scratch on my trunk but the honda’s rear bumper and trunk will need to be replaced. Anyone know how much its going to run me?

A: A rear deck will run better than 500 for parts and the bumper will run at least 200. If it’s a dealership service, the repair is at least 80 an hour for labor, but probably in the 100 an hour range. I estimate 6 hours, so you are on the hook for at least $1500.

This sounds like something to turn into your insurance after you’ve asked about accident forgiveness programs.

Q: How do I make my 1990 Honda Accord lx 4 dr go faster and about how much would it cost?
I just bought a 1990 Honda accord lx 4 dr about 6 month ago, and
I have been recently thinking of tuning it so I can race my friends.
I don’t fell like spending more than two thousand on it, and I don’t want go to a junk yard.

A: Get a manifold off ebay for a t3/t4 turbo for your car. Also get a t3/t4 turbo with an internal wastegate set to 7psi. Buy a cool sounding blow off valve like the turbo xs rfl (sounds like a whip) or a greddy type s. Get your local performance shop to install the kit (that will include 3″ exaust, and a K&N intake system.). You could spend that much easily on just an exaust, intake, headers, maybe some underdrive pulleys, and a nitrous kit. The turbo kit will give you more power than that at all times for much less. Also you dont have to do any other upgrades at 7 psi. Then if you ever want to add more power you can do other upgrades (motor and fuel, larger valves, etc.) and simply turn up the boost untill your making 400 horse at the front wheels. Without those upgrades you will still have a kick ass, fast, and sweet sounding honda. Go turbo and you will never go back!

Q: how do i start a 91 honda accord without key?
Okay, I bought a wrecked 91 honda accord so I could get the motor out of it. It didn’t have a key and the title is lost. I want to start the thing so I know everything works before I go through with the motor swap. I don’t want to wait through the title application process. Can I just break the ignition switch and start it? And exactly how would I go about that?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

A: You would be shocked at the replacement cost of the entire ignition switch assembly – you don’t want to break that. If you remove the lock cylinder from the passenger door a locksmith can use it to make a key – I almost had to do that a decade ago and the locksmith was asking $35 to make the key.

However, it sounds like you don’t want to do more than start the engine. You can do that by removing the ignition switch from the cylinder. See the first source for a pictorial that should be close enough to what you have (it’s a 1990 Accord). Once you get the switch loose you can operate it with a screwdriver to start the engine.

Q: What other car windshields are compatible with a 1994 honda accord wagon lx?
We want to replace a windshield on a 1994 honda accord wagon lx and we want to get a used one from pull a part, but there are no accords there like the wagon. So are there other cars with a same windshield like the accord wagon?

A: There should be!

If I get honda civic LX 2006 coupe then i want to get atomic blue metallic. That light blue is so hot.
But, my friend such told me that light blue is gay color.
Is that true?

You guys really think that color is gay?
If you don’t , I want to buy that color!

Help me guys!!

A: No, light blue is not a gay color. If it were pink then it might be gay, but i even know a couple of dudes with pink cars. No blue is gay. Does the word “metallic” sound gay?

Q: What is the best used car to buy? Honda Civic, Toyota Carolla, Nissan Sentra, Ford Focus?
I’d prefer to buy Ford as my grandfather and uncle worked for there company. I’d like to keep the automotive profits in the US even if the toyota, nissan, and honda plants are here. However, I really like the design and quality of the competitors. Feedback please?

A: I used to drive a focus, and it was a great little car. I had no major problems with it, it was great on gas, it has enough power for a small car (if you get the Zetec engine), and you’re right, keep the profits in this hemisphere.

Q: Is 8500 a good price to buy honda civic?
I found a 2006 honda civic EX couple. It is $8500 and 41k miles. clean title. Is it a very good price to buy the car?

A: Sounds to good to be true
ifit saysanything bout him being in another country or army BS
its a SCAM Dont even wast ur money or send them any

Q: How to buy a Honda Civic Type R in the USA?
I would like to know how to buy a 2002~2005 Honda Civic Type R (RHD NOT LHD I would just get a SI and K20 swap it if I wanted a LHD).
Were to buy in the USA or how to import one.

Allso if you know a price range.

Thanks

A: I’d rather take the LHD K20 swap, bot that’s just me. I tried japaneseusedcars.com, and the cheapest RHD Type R was 1,450,000 yen, which is approx. 12,378.10 USD. So, it’s your choice. Me, I like this one. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-Civic-JDM-97-CIVIC-HATCH-TYPE-R-MOTOR-EK-FAST_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6256QQihZ019QQitemZ290044562828QQrdZ1)

Q: Whats a good website to buy Honda Civic aftermarket partS?
I just bought a 2003 rally red honda civic coupe and i want to customize it to make it look nice. Just wondering where is a good website to buy things such as grilles, side skirts, headlights, hid lights, etc..

Thanks i really aprreciate the help!!

A: http://www.andysautosport.com/honda/2001_2003_civic/

Q: Where can I buy honda civic modification parts in the uk?
I need side skirts, front and back bumpers. i would like to view online or in shop before i buy. where can a wide selection of these in the uk closer to london better?

thanks

A: R-tec, london, is a good one, they keep alot of items in stock, give them a call before, make sure they have what you want. otherwise there aren’t many places that i know of, and i have lived in london for 22 years! essex racing in southend is good, but lack honda parts.

Online is the only place you can really shop for this sort of thing, ebay always works, otherwise just google ”honda body kit UK” or ”UK car accsessories”, or something like that. online will always be cheaper aswell, just make sure that the site has a email, address and phone number, google ”altezza lighting” for a good site, or www.altezzalighting.co.uk for a second, (same site but googling takes you to a sister site) both are excellent

Q: whats the best website to buy honda civic parts?
i have a 99 honda civic si shell that i have as my project its missing hood, front and back bumpers, seats, etc. what website can i go to get some original/custom parts for a good price?

A: Well I got on the website,
www.procivic.com
They have pretty much everything for Civics.

Q: Can I buy a 2008 Honda Civic Si grill and switch it with an LX version?
So I just bought a 2008 Honda Civic LX but I despise the silver grill cover thing on it, can I buy a Honda Civic Si version where it’s black and put it on there?

A: Yes, take a look here (http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/exterior-style-mods/35976-d-i-y-si-grill-lx-dx-ex-sedan.html).

Q: What Would You Buy?? Honda Civic New Or The Toyota Corolla New?
It’s confusing i love the Honda civic but some people are telling me that the corolla is also nice..

A: I suggest Honda Civic. Although both of them are good car, Honda still have the advantage in terms of styling, fuel economy, reliability, good handling and good engine performance. Honda Civic has a better re sale value if you want to sell it in the future. Hope this might help!

Q: Should I buy a Honda Civic with 120k miles?
Should I buy a Honda Civic with 120k miles if I make sure it is in good mechanical condition? Im just wondering how long it will last me.

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: should i buy a used honda civic or a brand new one?
i am want to buy a Honda civic and i just wanted to know what should i buy a brand new civic or a used one 06,07 or a new one. which is a b better deal and how much should i spend on it.

A: I would say that all depends on what you can find for a used Civic. The good thing about honda is they have a very high resale value so unless you can find something used thats at least $3000 under book price I say just go for a new one. Also when you figure that loan rates are almost always lower on new cars, it can be cheaper to buy a new car after you figure in financing charges.

Q: which one would you buy? honda civic or kia forte?
I am now considering buying my very first car.
my intention is to use it for weekend activities and commute.
and I think both honda civic and kia forte are very attractive.
any opinions are welcome.

A: Civic Si I dont think Kia is a reliable brand like honda has been for years

how bout a scion tc?

Q: Where can I buy a honda civic sun visor?
I need a new or used drivers side sun visor for my 06 civic. I have basically checked every honda parts website and have not found it. I have not tried a dealer (probably too expensive). Has anyone else had a problem with the 06-09 civic visors or how did you get another one?

A: try a junk yard.
they probably have a wrecked one sitting around or can check other junk yards for you

Q: planning to buy honda civic coupe lx auto 2009 for $ 14,000 on road?
planning to buy honda civic coupe lx auto 2009 for $ 14,000 on road (includes taxs and other stuff) ,where can i get for this price in dallas,tx.

A: Get a manual? Go to a dealership, remember they want to sell you a car, no matter what, they want to sell you a car. So bargain with them, don’t just accept the first number he gives you. Don’t be rude or whatever, just get the price as low as you can. =] Good luck.

Q: What type of tires should I buy for Honda Civic EX 2006 ?
I am looking to buy new tires for my Honda Civic EX 2006, went to Firestone and they recomended Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid BL with Uni-T ($127.00 per tire). I did not see good reviews on these tires as I was reading through some postings on the web……..Is it a good set of tires to buy and if not what other make/brand should I buy. Thanks
Jim

A: You should buy one from BridgeStone. there realy good. I like it.

A: but its ugly

Q: When are the Hyundai Elantra Touring and the Honda Insight going on sale?
These models are called 2009 models (Hyundai Elantra Touring) and the Honda Insight but they aren’t for sale yet. When will these models be available to look at in the dealers? Thanks for the insight (no pun intended). Do you know what the price ranges may be?

A: Not sure about the Honda Insight but this will give you more info about the Elantra Touring

http://www.hyundainews.com/Media_Kits/2009_Models/Elantra_Touring/Pricing.asp

Looks like it will be available in a few months.

Q: Why does the new Honda Insight so greatly resemble the Toyota Prius?
The Prius is the darling of the automotive world. Fine, but i assumed it was because of it’s hybrid system, not because of its styling. Mark you, it’s not that horrendous, just boring. When Honda announced they were introducing a new Hybrid car along the lines of their old Insight from a few years ago, the original which had a unique and interesting design, i was somewhat excited. But the new Insight is quite easy to mistake for Prius. Why the conformity?!?

A: The body style of the Insight is designed to reduce drag to maximize fuel efficiency. This was not done to the Civic Hybrid because Honda wanted it to still look like a Civic. With the new generation Insight, Honda could take advantage of a different body style to increase fuel efficiency, which happens to be what Toyota engineers did with the Prius years before.

Q: Can anyone help me with the Honda Insight car?
Okay so I am confused. Is the 2009 Honda Insight hybrid the same as the 2010 Honda insight hybrid. Do they just call it 2010 for fun even though it’s actually made in 2009? Please answer thanks.

A: There is not a 2009 Insight. The Insight is labeled as a 2010 model only.

We already have 2010 Odyssey and Pilot models in stock now.

Q: is the 2010 honda insight a safe vehicle?
I am considering buying a 2010 honda insight and i was wondering how safe it is, I can’t seem to find it on the internet.

A: NO!!! These vehicles are completely unsafe. Asteroids tend to hit these cars within days of purchase. 99% of the time, people are in the car. The frame and engine block is made out of iron and has a very high magnetic charge, which makes other cars pull towards this car, and people tend to hit metal poles and the back end of cars. These cars have horrible suspension, and break down all the time. They have 1 out of 5 stars for safety on all impacts tests. These cars motors tend to explode in the parking lot and while your driving them. Be careful if you get this car!

Q: How come the old honda insight has greater MPG than new ones?
1999 Honda Insight had an estimated MPG rating of 61 city/ 70 highway whereas the 2010 Insight has 40 city/ 43 highway?

A: The US Government recently changed how cars are measured for MPG. The new test more accurately reflects “real world” driving, not test track or laboratory driving. Because of this, almost all cars lost some of their MPG ratings.

Q: Brittni want to buy a car that gets excellent gas mileage. She is trying to decide between a Honda Insight ?
& a Honda Civic Hybird. Honda Insight city 57, Hwy 56, Civic city 45, Hwy 51. She likes the Civic better, but the insights gas mileage is tempting. Assuming she drives 12,000 miles a year & about 60% of her miles are city, how much more gas would she use per year in the Civic. If gas costs $2.78 per gallon, how much more will she spend on the Civic?

A: Wait for the 2010 Honda Insight. It will cost about $18,500, compared to the Civic Hybrid which starts at $23,550. That $5000 you save buying the 2010 Insight over the Civic Hybrid will be enough to pay for 1250 gallons of gasoline at $4 a gallon (enough gasoline for a few years of driving).

The 2010 Honda Insight: http://jalopnik.com/5045333/new-honda-insight-hybrid-revealed-expected-18500-price-tag-to-make-it-worlds-cheapest

Though many have jokingly called it the “Honda Prius” or “Honda Hindsight” because it looks so much like the Toyota Prius.

Q: What do you think of the honda insight 2010?
After owning a kia, we are looking to buy a new car. In this economy, we figured an economic car is a better choice. we went to a Honda dealer earlier and saw the Honda hybrid insight 2010. if you own this car, what do you think of it. I know Honda is a reliable industry, but how does the insight control? does it handle well, and is it easy to use? Give me your comments about it.

A: Any Honda is a good choice, my family has 3 of them, each with almost 200,000 miles on them. The Insight is a great car, it handles better than the comparable Toyota Prius, and involves the driver much more. It gets similar mileage to the Prius as well, and costs less, and is the best buy in the hybrid segment. It is a high-tech car, but the dealer will show you how to use the systems, and you should have no problems using the car. I hope this helps!

Q: Does the 2000 Honda Insight have a back seat.or is it only a 2 seater?
I have been looking everywhere and cannot find pictures of any 2000 Insight interior photo except for the front seats- Are there back seats? Anyone have photos up of their Insight from teh back cargo area/back seat area?

If there are only 2 seats, do the newer insights have more that 2 seats?

Thanks for your help!

A: All Insights are two seat coupes. They do have storage behind the two seats under the glass hatch that is big enough for a suitcase but not much more.

Honda no longer makes the Insight. There were only a handful made in 2007 and it has been discontinued for 2008. They have a poor resale value because they are small two seaters that are pretty ’stripped’. The Civic Hybrid took all the sales away from the Insight; the only reason honda kept making the Insight was because of the 60+ mpg rating on the manual trans Insight. In 2008 the EPA changed the way they calculate the fuel mileage and honda decided to stop production.

hope that answers your question

Q: Is the Honda Insight Hybrid still being made?
When I check the online car sales websites it appears this vehicle dissapears after 2003. I like it better than that smart-car. I can’t afford a Prius and a used Insight seems the best choice in the under $15K range.

A: No. Honda stopped making them in 2006.
Everything I have read says Honda will be introducing 3 new hybrids in the coming years.

Although Honda is hush hush about what they are, some forums say that there will be a Hybrid version of the Honda Fit, which will likely be the cheapest new hybrid on the market if it is introduced.

Q: How can I break 45 mpg on my honda insight?
I do everything right, roll up the windows, turn off the AC, and accelerate smoothly, and the econ mode is on. What more can I do?

A: Brake smoothly. Toss out anything you don’t need, extra weight means more gas gas use, mind you, check tire pressure every month, and clean you car regularly, dirt build up equals more weight too.

Q: Is the new honda insight a sedan or a station wagon?
I am so very confused. It looks like it could go either way.

A: A sedan is a four door car with a trunk.

The Insight is a Hatchback or Wagon. It will be referred to as a hatchback more then a wagon.

Q: Should I get the New Honda Insight?
I had a versa, extreme low mileage. I was not pleased with its low gas mileage 22-23 avg. Far less than 33 in advertised. Should i spend like 10 k more to trade in with a new honda insight?

A: I wouldn’t. How long do you think it would take for you to use up $10 k in fuel with your current versa?

At least wait until there are some real-world fuel consumption results for the insight (from owners or testers, check automotive blogs). Hybrids don’t always deliver the fuel consumption numbers the manufacturers promised either.

Q: What are the benefits of a honda insight?
List environmental benefits and financial please.

A: Well no one would ever steal the car as it’s to ugly…

Q: is a 2000 Honda insight a good first car for a 16 year old?
I know it would be expensive up front, but wouldn’t it save me money in the long run? Are there any better pre-owned hybrids around?

A: Yes it is, its a very nice first car actually. It actually wouldnt be to expensive up front, and the better hybrids are honda civic hybrids and accord hybrid(rare), but cheaper would be the Insight, so its really a nice car. Good luck, i hope this helps.

A: wow u gota big budget…ur set..u tryin 2 go big get urself a 99-00 SI and with the rest of da money tune it…dat b16a2 will go far with some money invested…or get urself a 91-95 ex nd swap da d16z6 with any b series…make sure it has vtec..and it fits the bay without 2 much modifications…and ur set…and w.e u have left…get more performance parts..u dun really need a spoiler and a big muffler tip unless u want it…many people mite call u a “ricer’ for having such mods..so thats all up 2 u

Q: honda civic?
iight guys this is the whole thing i gotta honda civic 95 and its automatic, how much would i need to convert it to a stick shift??? or is there a shop that i can have it done?????

A: no it does not go to another place to answer ?’s it will cost as much as the junkyard will sell it for no more then 700 the only thing is you will need to buy a new clutch i would not get it from a junkyard everything bolts right up except the shift linkage you will need to drill 2 holes on the bottom of the car after you take the auto assembly out but other than that your good the 92-95 civics should already have the bracket there for the clutch pedal so good luck

Q: honda Civic?
Is their any way to make my 2001 honda civic go faster without having to buy parts?

A: take out the passenger seats… and dont put anything in the trunk… This will make your car lighter… which makes it faster.

Q: Honda civic?
Does anyone know when you should replace shocks on a 2000 Honda Civic?

A: They don’t have shocks, they have struts and they last a long time. Check them by driving down the street and see if it bounces as you drive if not then don’t worry about them. If you look under the car at the strut (inside the big spring) and see any fluid running down the strut then they are leaking and have to be changed

Q: Will my little Honda Civic make it from the Midwest to Washington?
I have a 2000 Honda Civic and am planning a move from St Louis to Washington next month. I would like to just take my car and some belongings, but I worry about the car making it through the mountains. Any thoughts?

A: it should make it as long as its been looked after and has decent tyres.
if you are really nervous about it do some checks on it like check the oil and water levels.
if you dont know much about cars ask a mechanic to do the checks first before setting off.

Q: I have an 89 honda civic and I need to convert the injectors from 2 to 4, How can i do it?
I have a 89 honda civic and I bought a vtech engine that came from 94 civic. The 89 civic is 2 injectors and the 94 civic is 4 injectors. What do I have to buy, and how do i Install it in order to convert it from 2 to 4 injectors?

A: I dont remember hondas having 2 injectors or throttlebody injection. but I’ll try to work with the info you gave me. YOu will need the entire engine wiring harness and the computer to run the 4 injectors. step by step intructions are too complicated to put here. You could have picked an easier project like building a bridge to hawaii. I think you got in a little too deep

Q: Why wont my 1989 Honda Civic start without rolling down a hill to pop the clutch?
My 1989 Honda Civic will not start without rolling down a hill to pop the clutch. I thought it might be the battery, but once I chnaged it, the car did the same thing. Does that mean the clutch has gone bad or is it something else?

A: It could be anything except what you mentioned. Obviously, the clutch and transmission and engine is working great.

Could be just about anything in the charging/starting system. Starter, battery, alternator, switches, or other things. I’d start simple. If you “jump start” the car, does that work? I’d try that and if it works you know the starter and switch is good. If you can’t jump start it then it’s the starter/solenoid, (probably) or maybe a bad wire or switch.
If it does start when “jumped” then I’d suspect the battery. The alternator is a possibility, but you said you charged the battery, so if it was a bad alternator, (causing the battery to go flat due to lack of charging current) then charging the battery would have fixed it temporarily. So that would leave the battery. Even though you applied a charge to it, that doesn’t mean it did charge up. In fact, that’s the definition of a bad battery.
I’ve heard of other more esoteric problems such as faulty switches in the transmission or things like that, so if all the obvious things check out OK then you have to start digging. Good luck

Q: How long did your Honda Civic last before having major problems?
How long (in both miles AND years) did your Honda Civic last, before having major mechanical problems? Please also indicate whether you live in a snowy area or in a place like California where the conditions favor car longevity.

A: we have a 2001 accord (basically the same as a civic) and it has 185,000 miles and counting. there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with it. we live in michigan (snow land). i’d drive it to south america tomorrow if needed. it’s been such a good car to us.

Q: Is it honda civic model changing in 2009?
Please somebody let me know weather honda civic model is going to change in UAE in 2009.Cozzz am planning to go for HONDA CIVIC.

A: Umm…car manufacturers (actually most major manufacturers of any technological product) continuously update and release new models/upgrades each year so whatever you do, there’s bound to be new stuff released all the time.

Q: How far can a Honda Civic and a Prius go on Electric mode?
How many miles can a Honda Civic and a Prius go when the battery is fully charged. (civic hybrid and prius hybrid car)

A: Hi,

stay with me and I’ll give you the full answer.

Actually, both vehicles are “full hybrids” meaning they can run under electric-only mode for short distances at low speeds.

The Civic was just upgraded to a full hybrid in 2006, but the Prius has always been a full hybrid.

The Prius system will take you further, up to 25 miles in stop and go traffic, with the regenerative braking system. And the Prius will go faster, up to 25 mph, with careful acceleration.

The Civic system is not able to do either of those marks. It uses Honda’s hybrid system called the “Integrated Motor Assist” and it’s mostly designed to boost the gas engine, not run on electric mode for any length of time.

Essentially, you have two different vehicles. The Prius is a mid-sized sedan that is more equal to a Camry or Accord for features, technology, price, and comfort. The Civic is a compact and is on the same level as a Corolla for features, tech (excluding the IMA), price and comfort.

Not to say either is better than the other for what they do. They are just different, just as the Civic is to the Accord or the Corolla is to the Prius.

One last note, Prius sold in Europe and Asia come with an “EV” mode button. Pressing that button disables the gas engine for city driving. That is where the 25 mph/25 miles distance come into play.

We don’t have that ability here in the US because our driving conditions are too different from theirs to justify having it here. Basically, we drive longer distances in our urban environments and Americans drive faster over those long distances and would overcome the EV mode too easily. (We also don’t get the auto parking option that the Prius’ over there have (similar system on Lexus GS here in the US) because thier parking is so much tighter there on average.)

The Civic isn’t available with an EV mode at all, here or there.

BTW, to answer the previous post…

Computer system updates / changes / etc. for the Prius are covered by Toyota during the 8 year or 100,000 mile warranty period. And a safe bet would be that Toyota would update your Prius any time an update would be needed after that.

Every manufacturer has computer upgrades, even Volkswagen.

And as far as less parts go, Prius have no throttle cables (electronic acceleration), no steering pumps or steering belts (electronic steering), no starters, no alternators, no distributors, each cylinder is individually controlled with it’s own fuel injector, a sealed CVT so no regular transmission, and with the regenerative barking system, you should never have to replace the brake pads because the generator does almost all of your braking.

Anyway, if you’d like any more details, read my other posts or contact me.

Q: What other engines would fit my 2000 honda civic if i wanted to engine swap?
Hi i am looking to engine swap my 2000 honda civic (coupe) and don’t know what other engines fit its body. Like what engines from other stock cars and/or and turbo or improved engines made for the civic are there?
thanks.

A: Any engine will fit any car. i have seen a CRX (really small honda) with a V8 in it. it was a beast. i would go with the K20 as well or second choice a B18, or H22. all three are great engines.

Q: What is the difference between a Honda civic and Honda Prelude? What’s better for upgrading for performance?
I love both the Honda Prelude and Civic hb and plan on getting one of the two soon. I want to have a car that has a lot of options as far as upgrading the performance of the car. Which car would be better for that? I preferably want to stay with Honda, but are there any other cars that are specifically good for what I want that may not be Honda?

A: i would say honda civic. the prelude is more powerfull but kinda heavy. consider also the acura integra..lol, i mean RSX. honda has a huge following, so aftermarket will always be available….search websites to see how much modifications will cost for each car. that might help you decide which is more bang for the buck. also, keep in mind that the accord had a larger engine, but the v6 only came with an automatic.

Q: Is it possible to convert my Honda civic by using an electric forklift motor?
I have heard recently that it was possible to convert my Honda Civic by taking out the traditional gas engine and replacing it with an electric motor from a forklift. Ever hear of someone actually doing this? Typical cost? What level of expertise do you need?

A: Given the extreme labor and cost, plus the size of the battery, forget it. Too many factors to consider, like what gear ratio, how to transmit power to the rear or front wheels, where to place the large batteries, and just how many miles would a charge provide?
Taking the drive train out of ther fork lift would be fine, if 5mph or less would satisfy your needs. In that case, just remodel the fork lift and forget the conversion.

Q: Honda Civic Door Gasket Starting to Fall off. How can I BEST stick it back on?
Hello,
I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX 2-Door. The passenger side door gasket is falling off. It dangles and gets caught in the door. Some moisture gets in and also there is a wind noise issue on the expressway. Anyhow, could someone recommend a good adhesive and technique to get the gasket fully back on the door? Pro and expert answers only please; I could think of paste, superglue, etc on my own. Thanks for your help!

A: Use 3M weather strip adhesive. It is great stuff.

Q: What size rims did the 1995 honda civic ex come with?
I bought a 1995 honda civic ex with aftermarket rims, and I’m looking for a factory set of rims but don’t know what size they came with.
I have tried 13in but it’s to small, it doesn’t get pass the brake caliper.

A: The ‘95 Civic EX came with 14″ rims and a tire size of 175/65-14 (sedan) or 185/60-14 (coupe).

Q: How to reset the maintenance reminder light on a civic hybrid?
How to reset the maintenance reminder light on a 2005 civic hybrid ?

A: To reset the maintenance required indicator, proceed as follows:

Turn ignition Off.

Press and hold insturment panel Select/Reset button.

Continue holding Select/Reset button, then turn ignition On.

Release button when lamp turns off after approximately 10 seconds.

Q: How do I replace the taillight in my 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid?
I am trying to find directions on how to replace my tail light on my Civic Hybrid. Does anyone know of a good site where I can find that?

A: If you are asking about the tail light lens or taillight assembly you have to remove the rear bumper. I can scan you instructions and pictures on how to do that if you want them; just click on the icon above my name and select ‘email’ to send me your email address. I can’t attach a picture or a file to a yahoo answer.

If you’re asking how do you change a taillight bulb, then follow this procedure:

Open the trunk lid.

Disconnect the connectors from the taillights (taillight bulb connectors are visible by looking inside the trunk at the back of the tail lamps.) There may be an interior trunk trim panel that you have to take off but in most cases its just a series of thumb screws that hold them in.

Brake Lights/Taillights: 21/5 W

Rear Turn Signal Light: 21 W

Back-up Light: 21 W

Rear Side Marker Light: 5 W

Turn the bulb sockets 45 º counterclockwise to remove the bulbs.

If you’re removing the taillamps with the bumper off there are 3 nuts and screws that hold the taillight to the rear panel of the car that have to come off from the inside of the trunk.
Remove the nuts and screws, then remove the taillight.

hope that answers your question

Q: What is the suitable octane fuel for Civic hybrid 2006 ?
I want to ask, What is the suitable octane fuel for Civic hybrid 2006 ?
And is I can use another oil instead of 0W20 for my civic because in my country this type of oil very rare or sometimes not available, and what is the alternative oil ?

A: 87 octane is fine, translate that to whatever that means where you’re from.
As for the oil, u can use 5W30 or 5W20 IF the weather is usually warm where you’re from. I live in NYC and due to some cold winters we need to have the 0W20. The first number before the W is the below celcius rating at which it will still work (cold) the second is the hot rating. which is why old big engine cars need 20W50. i could be a bit wrong on teh whole theory but that’s a decent summary to satisfy teh taste buds.

Q: Where can I find a good extended auto warranty for my 2007 Civic Hybrid?
I am doing some research on extended auto warranties online. I wanted to see if anyone with a Honda civic hybrid handled the extended auto warranty issue.

A: the best extended warranty is no longer available to you; that was the Honda Care service contract but you can’t buy that after the car is 6 months old.

there are several dealer group contracts that are ‘universal’ in coverage but most won’t cover the hybrid powertrain components. they will cover the other mechanicals. Be sure when you compare coverages to be sure it is clearly stated that the hybrid components are covered. it will say so right in the ‘covered components’ section of the contract.

you can also buy ‘mechanical breakdown insurance’ from credit unions. they are different from ’service contracts’ in that they are real insurance policies that cover you for the failure of the specified parts versus a ’service contract’ which is an ‘agreement’ with all kinds of stipulations as to maintenance, use, type of failure etc. again, as with the service contract, make sure the hybrid components are called out in the ‘fine print’; otherwise they won’t be covered.

your options are limited on what contracts you can buy as most dealers won’t assume the risk of selling a contract on a vehicle that they did not retail. if you bought the car from a private party then the credit union may be your only option for mechanical breakdown insurance. if you bought it new from a dealer then the dealer may be able to sell you an aftermarket plan while the car is still under warranty. the programs from JM&A are quality contracts so that should be your first choice if you can find a dealer that will sell you one. JM&A is the finance arm of Jim Moran Family Enterprises and they are a Toyota Distributor in the Southeast. their contract would probably cover the hybrid because of the Toyota Prius. I’ve never had a problem getting a covered repair approved through their administrative arm and they pay the dealers promptly.

hope that helps

Q: How long is a battery supposed to last in a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid?
I am looking at a 2004 Honda civic hybrid and one of my questions is how long does the battery last and how much does it cost to replace it?

A: The 2004 Civic Hybrid battery should have at least an 8-year / 80,000-mile warranty on it. http://www.hondabeat.com/article_details.php?ID=77

If after the warranty expires and the battery dies, it doesn’t make sense to spend thousands to put a brand-new battery into an old car. Just get a refurbished one– They can be had for under $500 on Ebay. Drive it with the refurbed battery for a few more years, then get a new car.

Hope this helps.

Q: How much did you pay for 2008 Honda Civic HYBRID?
Hey, I just bought a civic hybrid and I was wondering what kind of deal I got… any info about pricing and performance from fellow owners would be helpful!

Thanks!

A: I paid $22,000 including the $635.00 destination charge but excluding tax, license and registration. I bought it in late 2007 so I will get a $2,100 income tax credit on it.

In terms of performance I have no complaints.

Most of my driving since I bought it has been on short (less than 10 mile) trips, in cold weather at times on icy/snowy roads. It is not surprising that I have usually not gotten sticker mileage under those conditions. However, as the weather has warmed, the car is getting broken in, and I am taking some longer trips my mileage is increasing significantly. (I have gone over 300 miles on my current tank of gas at 44.9 MPG.)

I hope that’s the information you wanted.

Q: Does the Civic hybrid beep when it is in reverse?
I am part of a car sharing program that includes several Toyota Priuses as part of the fleet. I enjoy driving these cars, except that they make an annoying beeping noise whenever they are put in reverse. The beeping lasts the ENTIRE time the car is in reverse, and is similar to the beeping noise that some big utility trucks make when backing up. I want the next car I buy for myself to be a Hybrid, but I could not stand driving a Prius as my only car if I always had to listen to that beeping. Does the Honda Civic hybrid also beep like this?

A: no
honda civic does not.
toyota guys put those beepers into prius just for the fun of it.

it’s more like …… beeppp beeeppp…. loook i’m driving a hybrid beepp… loook at me i’m drivin a hybrid……beeep ….beeeppp…..

yup…. and that’s the purpose f the beeper

Q: What is the ACTUAL gas mileage of a Honda Civic Hybrid?
We recently puchased a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid with an automatic transmission. All the manuals say it is supposed to get 47 city and 48 hwy mpg. We are getting less. Any ideas why and what has been your experience with gas mileage and other things about the Honda Civic Hybrid? We would like to hear from any Honda Civic Hybrid owners. Thanks

A: All EPA estimates are generated in a very unnatural way, that is basically on a dynomometer in a lab. They are ideal numbers under ideal circumstances. Most cars don’t regularly achieve numbers like their EPA estimates at all unless you drive them very deliberately with the goal of saving fuel all the time. The only vehicles I have seen regularly meet or exceed their EPA estimates are modern direct injected diesels. I suspect that it’s a function of the diesels natural superiority when it comes to flexibility/efficiency and the fact that diesels can vary their air/fuel ratio a lot more than gasoline engines can in response to load.

Hybrids are especially disappointing when it comes to living up to the hype of their EPA estimates. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that the type of driving and the amount of work the electric motor is doing can vary wildly. This is especially true of the Toyota system which actually shuts the gasoline engine off at times.

I would check your owners manual for tips on driving for fuel economy, make sure your tires are properly inflated and use only full-synthetic motor oil. Have all of those things going for you, then see what kind of results you get.

Q: How to verify Honda Civic Hybrid 2003 has rear airbags?
I am thinking of buying a used Honda Civic Hybrid 2003 that the owner claims has rear side airbags. How do I actually verify that the car are installed with those airbag, e.g. are there some documentation or papers that I can refer to? Thanks.

A: You might want to try asking some owners to be sure:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/honda-hybrid/
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Honda_Civic_Hybrid/
http://www.insightcentral.net/forum/

http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/f12/

Considering that the Honda press release for the 2003 HCH only lists the dual-stage driver and passenger front airbags and driver’s and passenger’s side airbags as standard equipment, with no note about rear airbags as an available option, it is highly possible that your seller is confused. (It’s always possible that the seller has a one-off VIP vehicle, but unlikely.)

http://corporate.honda.com/press/article.aspx?id=2002020643225

Normally there’s a SRS label wherever the airbags live, so if you don’t see any label either just above the rear windows or by the side of the rear seats, it is highly unlikely that any airbags are in the rear area.

Q: how significantly would adding civic hybrid wheels increase mpg?
i have read a few different articles on this, however i have never found and real statistics, so typically speaking how much increase in mpg would you expect to see by adding 1st or 2nd gen civic hybrid wheels to a non hybrid honda? anyone have any real experience?

A: Adding different wheels to your car will not help the gas mileage, unless you have over sized tires now. It’s the motor that burns the gas. I drive a Honda accord. The best thing to do is to make sure the tire pressure is right, and drive slower. I drive 120 miles per day round trip for my job. If I drive 10 miles per hour slower, in two weeks time I have saved almost a full tank of gas. Try it if you doubt me.

Q: What happens when Honda Civic Hybrid out of gas?
What happens when Honda Civic Hybrid runs out of gas? Will it limp along on electric, shut down, or mantain full electric driving capibility?
The fuel pump wouldn’t be damaged as it would be shutdown during the electric mode. The pump doesn’t run during electric mode in this car. A Feature of progressive engineering.

A: It will run until the electric motor runs out of charge. Also, while its running on electric only, it will not generate as much speed as well.

Q: Can I put an aftermarket navigation unit into 07 civic hybrid w/o navi?
i got a civic hybrid without navigation in it, i kind of regreted now that i didn’t get the one with navi in it. I would like to get an in-dash unit installed. is there anything else i need to get besides a navi unit?

A: Any of the aftermarket units should fit fine and far cheaper than the OEM. Try Crutchfield.com where they have an application program to tell you exactly what will fit your year and model car.

Q: How Does A 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid Work?
I have a 2003 Honda Civic hybrid and I just want some more information on when it is supposed to use battery versus gas.

A: At idle or really low speeds, the gas engine turns off and the electric motor comes on. When you take off or increase your speed, the electric motor turns the gas engine back on. If the battery charge is low, the gas engine will remain on.

Q: What are the major difference between a Honda Civic and a Honda Civic Hybrid (2008)?
Please answer if you have owned both!

I am looking to buy a Honda Civic and cant decide if I want a hybrid or not. I really wanted leather but I rather have higher gas milage.

What are the pros and cons of both?

A: The only Civic I have ever owned is a 2008 hybrid.

The major difference between the two is that the hybrid has a smaller gas engine but also has an electric engine and a large bank of batteries to run the electric engine when additional power is needed, such as when you are accelerating or going up hills. The batteries are normally charged when there is extra power, such as when decelerating or going down hills. This increases gasoline mileage significantly.

The higher milage is the biggest pro for the hybrid. Another pro is that in some locations a single person in a hybrid is allowed to drive in the “car pool” lanes.

The cons are:

-A higher price
-You cannot fold down the rear seatbacks to put larger items in the back.
-Fewer mechanics qualified to work on the hybrid electrical system if anything goes wrong with it, which is unlikely.
-Fewer trim levels, so you cannot order one with some particular options such as leather seats or a moonroof.

A: I have a Honda Fit Base model, I got it the first month they were available. It is equipped with an automatic transmission, and all the other standard features, AC, Power Windows and mirrors, radio with CD. It has been rated as a best buy for the money in the small car category by several national automotive magazines. I have around 12,000 miles on mine, I get 33-34 MPG around town and on a recent 1200 mile trip I got 41 MPG (the car was loaded with stuff and two people running 70 MPH most of the trip.). For the money, it is a great car, zippy, handles great, fun to drive, easy on gas and easy to park. The greatest compliment I can give it is; if something happens to this car, I will immediately buy another one just like it. Maybe the next one would be the sport model, which is what I wanted but I could not find one so I bought the base model.

The only downside of the car is it is hard to find and many dealers want to add a premium to the window price.

I have talked to a couple of other Honda Fit owners, without exception, all are of the opinion that it is a terrific car for the money. By the way, we also have a 06 MB CLS500, I would rather drive the Honda Fit.

I just checked the owner’s manual, there is no requirement to change the timing belt, there is a service light indicating when oil change is due, displayed in percent left till change is required, the brake fluid is to be changed every 3 years and the idle speed is to be adjusted every 160,000 miles. The Mini is a cute little car that does not come close to the amount of “Stuff” the Fit can carry, I paid $16,000 out the door for my Fit, is there a Mini for that price? Ebay has a used 07 Mini for $25,000, nice car, but a drastically different type of car from the Honda Fit.

Q: How is the Honda Fit on the freeway/ highway?
Hi, I’m a new driver (18) just got my license and planning on purchasing a car. I was wondering how the Honda fit is on the freeway? Is it fast enough to keep up? I would probably use it on the freeway for long trips (8 hours) occasionally.

Thanks in advance.

A: Honda is really a good car.
i recommend for it.

it fits really good and it helps to keep up.
but i dont really think it is a good idea to drive for long trips as you are a beginner on the roads believe me it is for your safe.
know the roads and how to get over and deal with the fools on streets, know the traffic problems by driving for short distances and non crowded ones, then you will know ur real ability.

Q: How well does 2009 Honda Fit interior do against rain or spills?
Moving into Seattle, and thinking about buying the 2009 Honda Fit, but the cloth trim for the seats concern me. I wouldn’t want to buy a car that would start to smell moldy once it rains.

Also, clearly, I wouldn’t be spilling coffee on the seats on purpose, but with leather seats, coffee spills might be less concerning.

If you’ve driven a 2009 Honda Fit, or just know a lot about it, please help! Thanks!

A: Well, the rain will be kept out of any new car, and Hondas are particularly airtight (pops my ears if someone slams the hatch when all the windows are up). I can’t help you about the leather, we have cloth seats, and I hate leather, so you have to weigh your own opinions and values on that count. Our dog is in our car a lot, and we carpool an hour (one way) twice a week with coffee drinkers, and have had no problems so far. The cup holders are all secure (I love the backseat ones, especially), and the advent of insulated, capped mugs seems to do a good enough job of keeping coffee spills in check.

[EDIT - I wanted to add, this carpool has been going on for 3 months now, and there have been no spills in any of the vehicles, not just ours. I guess your worry depends on the hygiene and/or clutz-factor of your intended driver or riders...]

Q: Can a Honda Fit be mofified to make it perform better in the snow?
I like my Honda Fit now that it is summer; but I dread the winter. Last winter I repeatedly got stuck in the snow; the wheels are too small and it is too low to the ground. I actually had to get towed one snowy night. can anything be done to help; like snow tires or another modification? I have had 3 Civics and an Accord and never had the trouble in the snow that the Fit has had.

A: Studs don’t help with snow, they are for ice. You may have touring tyres on your Fit, which are useless in snow. At the minimum, you need an all-season tyre with a HIGH snow rating, which can only be attained if your tread has good cleats on the outside edges of the tread. All-season tyres are not all equal, some are actually very poor in winter, no matter what the advertising says.
I suggest you buy actual winter tyres for that vehicle, tyres that go on just before the snow comes, and are taken off in the spring. The difference is amazing, they grip snow better, but, even better, they grip ice better because of the tread that doesn’t harden at low temperatures.

NEVER deflate the tyres at all, unless you are actually stuck. It is a trick to use to get moving only when stuck, not while actually driving, whether or not the roads are clear. In 43 years of driving, well over 1 1/2 million miles, living in Edmonton, Saskatoon, and rural Manitoba, all snow belt areas, I have never once had to resort to deflating tyres.

Q: How much would it cost to retro fit a 2007 honda fit sport with a drivers seat from a 2008 model?
Hi,

Just bought a 07 honda fit and love it… but wish it had pump in driver’s seat for comfort and seating position adjustment like the 08…can it be retrofitted with one and how much would that be?

A: as far as i can tell everything is basically bolt on. so it all depends on who you get to do it, plus the price of parts. it can be done. But i cant give you a price

Q: How much would it cost to install an iPod jack in a Honda Fit?
I have a brand new ‘08 Honda Fit which has auxiliary controls and equipment, but lacks the jack itself. How much would it cost to have the jack installed?

A: go to circuit city and if you buy an aftermarket Sony radio(>$99) the install will be free……. the Sony radio has the jack in the front of the radio and you have to control the songs off the ipod…..

Q: What is the actual labor effort to install 2010 Honda Fit car accessories?
I’m shopping for a 2010 Honda Fit and would like to add some Honda accessories.

When I go to the Honda car website to look at the various accessories I can add, there is a note that says the costs shown do not include the installation cost.

I was wondering what is the actual labor effort, in terms of manhours, to install the following accessories:
- Door Edge Film
- Body Side Molding
- Door Visor
- Center Armrest

Thanks for the help!

A: This one is hard. Every dealership is different from the other. From what I can tell is about 4 to 6 hours. but again every dealer is different. In some dealers it’s 80 dollars an hour and in other is 110 dollars that makes a big difference too. In some dealers the flat rate techs do this kind of work and they get paid more $$, In some other dealers they have a pdi tech (pre delivery inspection) that’s on salary not flat rate that will do this kind of work for less $$. I guess it will be better for u to call other honda places were u live and ask and also use that info for your advantage u know like; Hey the other Honda place will do it for less.. That always works . Good luck!

Q: How do you work the paddle shifters in a Honda Fit Sport?
I have never driven a manual car and my understanding of shifting gears is small. I picked up a Honda Fit Sport, but I’m not sure how to work the Paddle shifters?

A: Check the owners manual.

Q: How would the Honda Fit fair going up mountains is it to underpowered to handle these type of things?
I’m currently in the market to buy a hatch back and the two that I’ve narrowed it down to is the Honda Fit and the Toyota Matrix however the Honda Fit has significantly less hp however it has vtec (boost? lol)

A: We commute/carpool from Pahrump (elev 2,600′) to Death Valley (elev -200′), roughly 60 miles and two passes around 3,000 feet, with 3 or 4 people (and on a couple occasions 100-pounds of sand, too), speeds usually 65MPH, and A/C on most afternoons (meaning, on the uphill run), and I can keep our Fit in fifth gear almost all the way home, except when I have to slow down for curves and stops. The only time I ever had issues was coming out of the valley during a 50+MPH windstorm with a full load against the wind — on that day I occasionally had to use 4th gear to keep speed.

Q: Are there any honda fit models that come with a leather interior?
I’m going to get my first car soon and I’ve choosen the honda fit. It’s the perfect car for me. The only problem is that alot of them come with cloth interiors and I prefer leather.

A: There is no standard leather or leather option on the Fit/Jazz, your only real choice is aftermarket leather, some dealerships can handle this though so it is worth asking them, if not find an auto upholstery company.

Q: Does anyone know where I can rent a Honda Fit in Southern California?
I am considering buying a Honda Fit and would like an extended test drive. Most renal car companies don’t rent Hondas. If you know of some rental company that does rent them please let me know.
Thank you.

A: I doubt you will find any rental agencies that have them.

they don’t usually buy Honda’s because Honda will not sell to them at fleet prices.

the used ones are selling at very high prices due to gas going up up up.

check with a few enterprise rent a car places they might have one from a few years ago as they occasionally buy cars at auctions but it’s a long shot at best.

it’s a fine car much better than the Toyota Yaris.

Q: What would be a good semi small sound system for a Honda Fit car?
I’m going to get a Honda Fit. Preferrably the sport model. I want to up the sound system that comes stock but I don’t want anything to over the top that takes over a huge amount of space in the car either. Any good ideas?

A: go to crutchfield.com and itll tell you what you need to know

Q: What is the best gas mileage you have gotten driving your Honda Fit?
I own a Honda Fit and am impressed with the gas mileage I get compaired to the advertised mileage.

A: I have gotted 49mpg with my Fit!!!

Q: What type of bike rack should I get for my 2008 Honda Fit?
I have never owned a bike rack, which has put me at a disadvantage of searching for one for the fit. I have seen some things online in forums, but nothing really thorough that lets me know it will fit okay on the honda fit.

A: There are lots of choices of bike rack types and each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. You really need to figure out what type of rack you want first, then find the rack that provides the best fit for your car. The basic choices are: roof top, trunk and hitch mounted.

A roof top rack is great if you are going to be carrying your bike around a lot. The great things about a roof rack is you install it and largely forget about it and it doesn’t get in your way like a trunk or hitch mounted rack. Roof rack companies make a wide variety of mounts that can hold nearly any type of bike quite securely. As well, they make boxes, mounts for boats, unruly relatives etc. A roof top rack gives you lots of flexibility, but is the most expensive option, may need a fairing to reduce wind noise, and will reduce your gas mileage.

A trunk rack is inexpensive and great for occasional use. Just pull it out of the garage (or trunk), unfold, mount it, load your bikes and go. Impact on gas mileage will be less than a roof rack. On the downside, the straps and clips that affix the rack to your car are a real pain and will scratch your car’s paint. Trunk racks are also prone to scratching and/or rubbing the paint on your bike. The straps will make a tremendous racket in the wind if they are slightly loose. Forget access to your trunk when bikes are loaded. Furthermore, it may be nearly impossible to mount certain types of bikes on some trunk racks, so be sure your bike fits on the rack before leaving the store.

A hitch rack is easy to mount and dismount. They can hold bikes quite securely, as well. Cost is between a roof rack and a trunk rack. Your car will have to have a receiver hitch. Most hitch racks fold down, somewhat out of your way, to give access to your trunk. Because the bikes are held low and largely out of the wind stream, impact on mileage is usually minimal.

My recommendation is to think about the type of rack you want first and study the literature at the websites of Thule, Yakima, and Saris. All three of these companies also provide fit information for a variety of vehicles.

For your information, I had great luck at our local REI. They really knew racks there.

Hope this helps you out.

Good luck!

Q: What is the purpose of the circle in the front of the Honda Fit?
I just bought a 2009 Honda Fit and on the driver’s side of the front bumper there is a indented outline of a circle. Does anyone know what the purpose of this feature is? The owner’s manual does not mention it.

A: The cover pops off and the tow hook that is located in your hatch with your spare tire tools screws onto there.

If you don’t remember Reagan look him up. Reagan was a true conservative, he believed in the power, justice, Liberty and freedom of the free market with limited government. He believed, the USA was the greatest country in history, with the near perfect constitution and the wisdom of the Founding Fathers. He believe government was the problem and strict adherence to the constitution was the solution. He believed non democratic socialistic countries are or could become our potential enemies so he did everything in his power to destroy or limit the power of these countries. Reagan, Thatcher, and the Pope are most credited in the fall of the Soviet Union.

Liberals hated Reagan and still do today. They hated him because like Obama was so good at communicating to people like you the moderates and the independents. He inherited a rotten economy and turned it around creating millions of jobs and helped minorities and the poor more than any president before him or since. This made Reagan the biggest threat and biggest enemy to liberals, socialist, marxists and fascist. Reagan was so popular with the working class he received a majority of the Union vote.

Obama – A product of liberalism progressive, socialism, marxism, fascism, how ever you would like to describe him, He too convinced the moderates and independents to vote for him. In fact he used much the same language to communicate to the moderates and the working class. i in fact know several moderates who loved Reagan and voted for Obama because they thought they were similar. Now we can see the difference between a populist from the right and a populist from the left. Obama believes the government is the solution to all our problems, he believes the constitution needs to be fixed and changed, he believes the US is a country that needs to be changed and is inherently bad, he believes we have nothing to fear from the many dictators around the world.

Conservatives hate Obama, for much the same reasons as the Liberals hated Reagan. Obama has convinced the moderates that socialism is not so bad, that the government can help, that taking over the banks was necessary, that taking over the car industry is essential, that protectionist trade policy is the best way to protect jobs, that government run healthcare is the solution not the problem. We don’t need more energy, we need more windmills.

Reagan and Obama have taken this country in opposite directions, so if you supported both of them, like many of my friends its now time to take sides. Obama is not a moderate, he is a radical left wing activist who wants to grow government, take over private industry and play nice with our enemies. Reagan would do the following economically right now. He would end the healthcare debate, he reform the tax code, he would give every individual a $2500 per year tax credit from healthcare, and a $500 tax credit for each child, the would tax employer paid benefits encouraging individuals to buy their own insurance, which would reduce the cost, make it more competitive, and make it portable (you would not lose healthcare coverage when you change jobs). He would put in place tort reform, he would close down fanny mae and Freddie mac that with the influence of the politicians were the reason we are in a recession now. He would not have bailed out the Wall street, he would have reduced government regulations on the auto industry and would let companies fail if they are not efficient. He would get 20 – 50 new nuclear power plants on-line within the next 10 years, he would allow for the use of clean coal, and oil drilling in Alaska, and off the coast.

And if history were to repeat itself North Korea and Iran would both have a popular upraising where democracy would win out over dictatorship without a shot being fired.

Okay Moderates its your chance to change the world, its your chance to move this country back to its roots of Jefferson, Adams, Smith, Washington, Lincoln, or more in the other direction towards, Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, etc… Make your choice and make it a good one, pretend your life and your future depends on it, because it does!

Answer the questions quick because Obama’s army run this website, they hate Reagan and love the direction this country is going in and they are dependent on the moderates staying out of the fight. This question will last in my estimate less than 60 mins.
Some interesting responses. 1) to my brit friend, yes Europe is more socailist than the USA but just a matter of time and degree. Not one of the European countries could defend themselves is that your goal for the USA too? And yes the take over of banks, auto, energy, and healthcare are examples of communism/Marxism/fascism take your pick. And yes I would have let them fail and then reorganize. 2) sorry I should have said true democracies that actually count the actual votes cast and allow an opposition canidate. Having something like the bill of rights would be a must too. 3) now can a moderate that voted or would have voted for Reagan and voted for Obama let’s here from you! I don’t really care what the socalist have to say

A: I’ll take Reagan over odopey anytime.

Q: I am considering purchasing a car off craigslist and want to make sure this is not a scam. Please read below.?
Hello,
I’m SGT Calvin Rain. My 2002 Acura TL Type S is in perfect
working condition, this detailed vehicle makes the exterior look like it
just came off the assembly line . This is the second time when I try to sell
my vehicle…First time I tried eBay because every time I only use 100% safe
methods and I’ve sent the vehicle through the eBay Vehicle Purchase
Protection Program to a buyer from Alaska. I paid the shipping and insurance
costs and when eBay requested the payment he refused to pay. Why? …
because he agreed to purchase the Vehicle in the first place, but typically
didn’t had the necessary amount to do so. …if you don’t have the funds
available, you can’t get the vehicle. For the time being, my vehicle is on
eBay’s hand and it’s ready to be delivered to the next buyer. My price on it
is $2,000.
The eBay auction ended last week and the guy from Alaska was the winning
bidder. He could not pay for it. I need a new buyer to register to my eBay
transaction. I am in Camp Pendleton MC Base in training, getting ready for
Afghanistan . The vehicle and its documents are in the DAS auto shipping
warehouse waiting to be delivered. My wife just gave birth to my forth kid;
I need all the money I can get to leave to her. Also, I hope to sell the car
before we depart to Afghanistan . It’s fully paid for, fully functional, the
title is clean.
Shipping, insurance and eBay fees have been paid since the previous
transaction.
I am a member of the eBay buyer protection program and using this service
you will get a 15 days testing period after delivery.
The transaction will be made only through eBay. eBay will be the third party
that will hold the money till you will receive and inspect the car. If the
car meets your expectations and you want to keep it you will have to tell
them to release me the payment details so I can get paid. Reply me with your
full name and shipping address so eBay can contact you regarding the payment
and shipping process.
Let me know your thoughts,

SGT Calvin Rain

A: 1) eBay does not transport or deliver vehicles.
2) Anytime someone introduces themselves by name, it’s probably bogus. People in the USA don’t do that.
3) Read and understand the information at the top of the page on any Craigs List vehicle sale page…
“OFFERS TO SHIP CARS ARE 100% FRAUDULENT!”

Thanking you

Q: what is full coverage auto insurance for colorado?
I am financing a car and I have to have full coverage but I just want the minimum full coverage I can get that colorado requires. I am setting my dedutibles at 1,000.

A: It really doesn’t matter what the state sets as minimum, or where you’d like to set deductibles. What will matter is what the finance company wants as far as insurance goes. They will set the minimum deductible they want, and also the minimum coverage, and if you don’t do as they require, you will be in violation of the terms of your contract and they can do one of three things then. 1. Demand you pay off your loan, in full. 2. Take your car. 3. Add their own expensive insurance and bill you the costs of it.

Q: Can I get Iowa and Colorado insurance policies bundled?
I am not happy with my current agent and would like to shop for new. I need 3 types of insurance: 1 – a home I own in another state (Iowa) that I currently rent out. 2 – renters insurance for my current residence (Colorado). 3 – auto insurance (Colorado). The agents I have contacted have an easy enough time with my auto and renters, but when it comes to including my home in another state, they say they can’t help me. I’d like one agent, one company. Any suggestions?

A: Ah, those are easy states!

So what you want to do, is contact a LARGE carrier – Travelers comes immediately to mind – and ask them if they have any agents licensed in both Colorado and Iowa.

Alternatively, you can call the insurance company that CURRENTLY writes your business, and ask them if they have any OTHER agents, currently licensed in both states, that can take over your account with a broker of record letter.

MOST multi licensed agencies aren’t going to write personal lines. I checked with the one I’m familiar with, and they aren’t licensed in Iowa. Depending on where you live, it’s likely that the agent won’t be local to you, but you SHOULD be able to find one – maybe by asking the agents who cannot do it, if they know any larger brokerage in the area, that might be able to do it.

Q: Is auto insurance less expensive in Colorado Springs than California?
I am looking to relocate from Los Angeles to Colorado Springs and just wondering if insurance over in Colorado Springs are less expensive. I mean for liability or full coverage..

A: Do google search for auto insurance Colorado Springs and call a agent there. Have copy of your policy and declaration page that shows your coverage and the amount of each type of insurance you have. They can compare the amount you are currently paying vs what you might pay for the same car and coverage you currently have now.

good luck

Q: I got a ticket for driving without auto insurance (Douglas County, Colorado). I DO have insurance,?
I just had the wrong (old) card in my glovebox. Court clerk is stating I must go into court on the court date, which means taking off from work. I thought you could rush proof of insurance into the police department in 24 hours if this happened? Anyone know????

A: You must go to court to get your ticket dropped. A police officer can’t drop the ticket after it has been issued. There is no such thing as going to the police department and proving your case before court.

Q: Looking for auto and home insurance recommendation in Castle Rock, Colorado?
We will moving from Wisconsin to Castle Rock, CO in January, 2007. We are building a new home there. We would appreciate any auto and home insurance company recommendations & comments in that area for the best coverage & service at the lowest cost.

A: There are so many good home and auto insurers that to single any one out is a disservice to all of them.

If you currently have auto and homeowner’s insurance in Wisconsin and you are happy with the company(s), then just ask your current agent for an agent recommendation for your new location.

Be prepared. Wisconsin is among the lowest priced states in the nation for auto insurance (Colorado used to be among the highest until it dropped No-Fault insurance a few years ago…not it is middle of the pack). And, Wisconsin is the cheapest state in the nation for its average homeowner’s premiums.

So, you are likely looking a pretty healthy increase in your premiums no matter what company you pick.

Q: is pip auto insurance required in the state of Colorado?

A: Yes it is. Here is all the state minimums http://info.insure.com/auto/minimum.htm

Q: Im moving from Pa to Colorado, any culture shocks, laws, auto laws, etc; that i should be aware of?
In two years i am moving to the Leadville area in Colorado from Latrobe Pennsylvania. I’m moving for college purposes but plan on staying there for a long time. Is there any suggestions people have:? Maybe some culture shock i should be aware of? Laws that are different? Pet info? Auto ownership/driving/auto insurance laws? Ways to meet people? things to do? Anything is welcome concerning my move.

A: Culture shock, no.

Do be aware that Leadville is at 9,000 feet elevation. You may very well get altitude sickness your first few weeks here. Drink alot of water, avoid alcohol, and get alot of rest at first.

Q: I moved from Ohio to Colorado. Do I need to transfer the title to register my vehicle?
I have already applied for my Colorado Driver’s License. That will be coming in the mail. I have my Ohio vehicle title and I have auto insurance through Progressive in Ohio. What’s my next step?

A: Yes take your ohio title and insurance info to the colorado dmv and change the title to a colorado title and tags. You also need to call the insurance and tell them your new address in Colorado…….md

Q: I Need Auto Insurance?
Does anybody know what is the best place to get auto insurance, and i was told something about liability not full coverage, i’m in colorado. and i’m 17. what company should i use

A: There are several ways that you can consider.Call your local agent or do the online quote yourself.Take which way,it depends on your time and knowledge.

Q: auto-insurance coverage for co-passenger (no medical coverage)?
I live in Colorado, USA. Recently, while driving a rental car, I met with an accident. I was at fault for the accident. One of my friend was traveling during the accident. And he got whiplashed because of the accident. He took the treatment, diagonosis and approached his healthcare provider to claim for the expenses incurred for the treatment. My friend’s healthcaare provider processed it initially. However, he they have got back now and queried about this accident information and why it was claimed when this must be covered by driver’s auto -insurance, i.e., me.

Please note that as a driver, I was insured with auto insurance which covers sufficient BI, CD. I did not choose for ‘Medical Coverage’ as part of auto insurance policy. (as I had health insurance to take care). So, in this case, since he was traveling in the same vehicle which met with accident and I was driving it, I am wondering :

1) how will my auto insurance policy cover it, as BI?

2) If my auto insurance policy denies it on the ground that the claim person is driving in the same vehicle, will his health care provider be taking care of?

I would really appreciate any kind of information around this.

Thanks,
Paddy

A: Your BI coverage from your own personal car’s policy should extend to the rental policy. Not all companies will allow the extension though. Check with your company. if it turns out that your BI didn’t extend, then your passengers health insurance will have to cover it. They are merely making sure that some other insurance or person isn’t liable before they cover their insured.

Q: how do you word a prosposal for a insurance settlement?
auto accident with injuries. Colorado Casualty being difficult to deal with in paying medical bills incurred.

A: Normally in an injury settlement, the company will not settle until you have completed treatment;  if you are still treating, then no settlement will be offered at this time;

if you have completed treatment, then most likely they will request your medical records and bills for consideration;  depending if you had a “soft tissue injury aka whiplash”, will not give you a lot of value;  they also look at how much damage your car had;  if minimum, then injury is less;  but if your car was really damaged and hit hard, it would be considered to be worth more;

they also look to see if you had any pre-existing condition that was aggravated due to this accident;  if so, then they can deduct, but if all injury was due to this accident, would be considered;

they might be looking at the fact they believed you treated too much or the amount of your medical bills to be unreasonable;

if you had a serious injury;  ie;  scarring, disfiguration, fractures, surgery or a permanent impairment, etc, that is a different matter;  if a serious injury, could be worth quite a bit more and they take more time to evaluate it before making an offer;

there are so many factors and each case is evaluated one by one;  it could be that the adjuster is backlog and cant get to it;
it is not uncommon for adjusters to work 50 to 60 hours a week trying to keep up;

this is just a general idea;  you might want to call and ask them what their procedures are and what kind of time frame they have in mind before they offer you a settlement;

good luck

Q: Mandating insurance for citizens?
Why is it that so many are up in arms about the fact that it will be mandated that people carry health insurance when 48 of the 50 states require drivers to buy liability insurance to show financial responsibility? The two states that don’t are New Hampshire and Wisconsin. Neither of those 2 states are suing the US Government over the mandate of health care coverage. But the states thus far that are –

Virginia
Florida
Alabama
Colorado
Idaho
Louisiana
Michigan
Nebraska
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
South Dakota
Texas
Utah
Washington
Georgia

all require the people driving in their state to carry auto insurance! What is the difference?? Isn’t this also forcing people to buy what they don’t want? Isn’t this socialism as well? Why is this okay, but when the federal government – who ends up covering medical bills when the people can’t do so – demands people take “financial responsibility” and purchase health insurance so that they don’t have to spend so much covering people when the medical costs go up because of lack of payment, suddenly people come out of the woodwork and start screaming “This is Unconstitutional!”. Can someone explain this to me??

And to save many of you the trouble: I HAVE read the bill cover to cover, for I work in a field that is directly effected either way by the bill, and I am a small business owner. So save the rhetoric and just answer the question.
@open4one: My husband is a history professor. There is a print of it hanging in his office at our house. I MIGHT have seen it a time or two. . . I can’t recall.

A: The Federal government (through Federal income taxes & Social Security taxes) ALREADY mandated all citizens with income pay taxes at least a portion of which funds Medicaid & Medicare, and of course Social Security…so the notion some (very inattentive) people have that the Health Bill is the “first time the Federal government has EVER mandated citizens buy something” is laughable…and the sad reality that there are States whose ATTORNEYS GENERAL are too dim-witted to realize that is just plain sad!!!

Q: Colorado state Traffic infactions?
I have the auto insurance company USAA and I have recieved my first traffic infaction for speeding 10 mph over the speed limit. I was just wondering if this can effect my car insurance rate in anyway even when I have paid for the infaction already. thank you

A: Of course it will.

Get a ticket and your rates go up. BUT 10 mph is only a bitty bit and if it’s your first maybe they’ll let it slide.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Good Luck!
.
.

Q: I also would like help with how much money to ask for in my auto accident case?
Thank you jmayer5025 for your reply. I already have an attorney and after a year of the insurance company denying my claims, this attorney got a reconstructionist company to look at my case, because in Colorado you have to prove the liablitiy of the other person, especially when the cops don’t give out a ticket. This company wrote a complimentary letter stating 100% of the liablitiy was this girl’s. So now the insurance compnay wants us to put together a settlement amount to present them with & not file the lawsuit right now. We have a great chance to settle very soon, but I know I need to have money for a future surgery and ongoing therapy and medications probably for the rest of my life. My spine doc said for me to use therapy and anything else to help me cope with pain until I can’t ake anymore & then surgery. This is because I am only 36 & in good shape, the advise me to try & cope as long as possible as there are new alternatives delveloping. I don’t want to be fused.

A: Actually, your lawyer should be involved in this aspect of your case…he should be obtaining medical reports from ALL the doctors whom you have been seen by as well as those that will require ongoing rehab. An assessment of what medications and current cost of those, will be and then along with the loss of income that you will be subjected to for whatever length of time you will be assumed as being unable to work, should be calculated into things. Any special equipment, transportation costs if you must be driven back and forth from places such as doctor visits, rehab visits etc. Special foods, clothing … whatever is involved.

If you are 36 and will undergo surgery in the future as a direct result of your accident…these have to also be factored in and include such things as Nursing care, home care, equipment (wheelchair etc).

There’s a lot of factoring that has to take place so you shouldn’t be trying to do your lawyers job…you should be sitting down with him though and going through everything that is involved in this and from there you should be able to come up with something that is a clear cut settlement that will cover everything rather than an arbitrary number that may or may not cover things.

Someone can tell you to ask for 7.5 Million yet, factored over time that could end up leaving you in financial difficulty down the road and possibly being unable to undergo certain treatment … on the other hand that same amount could end up being a ballooned amount that the insurance will challenge and if you don’t have substance to back it up…you could end up with a fight anyway.

Usually, people will tell you to ask for more than you need and settle for less which will usually be around the amount you wanted anyway…I’ve been there and that tactic can work but usually you have to fight for it…so be prepared to put a little work into this settlement proposal, let your lawyer steer the boat but try to document every thing you believe will have to be covered on your behalf and then work together to try and obtain it.

Good luck and hope your recovery is a full one.

Q: Auto Insurance in Alabama?
Can someone tell me what the minimum liability limits for car insurance in Alabama would be?

A: 20k each person 40k each accident for bodily injury and 10k each accident for property damage.thats what i have an i live in southern alabama

Q: How do I write an affidavit stating I was responsible for paying cell phone bills and auto insurance bills?
They were in my mother’s name because at the time I had no credit established, but I made all the payments. I need them for proof of payment to be approved for a USDA loan to buy a house in Alabama.

A: HOPEFULLY, you did it ‘through’ a Checking Account?
Use the Canceled Checks!
OR write out just what you said, have it Notarized by a Notary & signed in Person by you and your Mother.

Q: How would I write an affidavit stating I was responsible for paying cell phone bills and auto insurance bills?
They were in my mother’s name because at the time I had no credit established, but I made all the payments. I need them for proof of payment to be approved for a USDA loan to buy a house in Alabama.

A: Just the way you did – but you’ll need to include cancelled checks to PROVE that you paid them.

Q: I have a question regarding auto insurance and my 17-year-old son driving under a learner’s permit with parent
We live in the state of Alabama, and I have full coverage insurance on my car. My son, who lives with me, has a learner’s permit, but not his license, and only drives on occasion, always with me (his mother) in the car. Do I need to notify my insurance company that he is driving with me under a learner’s permit so that he will be listed as a “driver” on my policy (even though he does not have his official license as yet)? Or do I notify my insurance company only once he actually has his drivers license?

A: Without reading your policy form, most of the time you don’t need to add them until they actually have a license.

Technically, the only policy form I’ve ever seen that requires you to add a person under permit, is Progressive’s and Leader’s. I’ve read other policies from companies that WANT you to add them when they get their permit (thus charging you a higher premium, earlier), but the POLICY form refers to “licensed driver”, so the company would have to cover a permitted driver.

I’d call your agent, anonymously, and ask them “hypothetically”. That’s the safest way.

Q: I’m transporting my SUV from California to Alabama. Can anyone recommend a reliable auto transport service?
I’m transporting the SUV from Santa Ana, CA to Huntsville, AL. My budget is under $1000, which hopefully includes insurance, pick up & delivery service.

A: Look up DAS (dependable auto shippers). You can also just do a search for ‘auto shipping companies”. Try to avoid the ones who are just brokers and hire whoever is available. Make sure to check their customer satisfaction rating.

Q: I have to ask all.. Because State Farm insurance will not cover Mississippi..Do you trust State farm anymore?
If Start Farm will not cover New Orleans and southern Alabama, Mississippi? Would you trust them for Auto Insurance? The outcome of this question will be a MinnesotaRick’s yahoo 360 blog..

A: sorry to say I really don’t trust any insurance agency, but its a law that you must have one. but I would never go with state farm. I just don’t like that company.

Q: Which State am I a Legal Resident of?
My driver’s license and voter registration is in Georgia and I rent a room from my sister there.
I own a home in Alabama and spend much time there.
I pay state taxes in both states.
My health insurance is with a Georgia company.
My cars and car insurance are in Alabama.
I have a motor home and spend most winters in Key West.
The auto insurance company says they could not care less but the health insurance people have a problem with my residency.
Of which state am I a “legal” resident?

A: Red Rubber Jesus, I suggest you find a local car insurance agent to assist you. Since I live in Florida I can’t suggest an agent in Alabama, but here is an resource that can help you. http://www.easyautoinsuranceguide.com/Alabama-Car-Insurance.html

Hope it works out

Q: Is it fair that some will pay less for insurance?
I currently live in Wyoming. The company I work for is based in Alabama. I get Alabama Blue Cross / Blue Shield health, dental and vision for myself, my wife and three kids for a little over $300 a month. Living in Wyoming means I don’t have to name a primary Dr. or get referrals for any procedures. Its a really sweet deal, I must say.

Now, I keep hearing that its unfair that I have health care while others do not. If the health care reform bill is past, my understanding is, everyone will be required to buy health insurance. So, how is it any more fair that I will most likely have better insurance and a lower rate than someone else? Do I have to pay more right away or do I have to give up some benefits? We have to make this fair, right.

Lastly, you can not use the “auto insurance is mandatory”. Auto insurance is mandatory to cover damages you may cause to someone else’s property and to cover damage to your own vehicle in the case another party ie bank has a lean against your vehicle.
Liz – Get a different job. It worked for me. So you think you shouldn’t get left behind. I think I should have to pay for you too. Im already paying for five. How many more would you have me cover?

A: I tell you, this new crap he is proposing is not good. My husband is from a country where they have socialized medicine. The Dr’s there see about 15 pts a day. Here my Dr can see up to as many as 30. With this new plan, the doctors will have to all work the same hours, so now for something that would take you a day to get in for, will take weeks. You will no longer get to have surgery in 2 weeks, it could take months if it is not a complete emergency!

When my husband lived in Sweden, it took him almost 8 months to get a TEST to see if he had sleep apnea. His oxygen levels dropped below 50% at night he had it so bad, but …. low and behold.. he could not get in before it was his turn!! No mind you once they saw the results, he was called immediately to come get a machine, but still and all, he could have died waiting.

I say none of this is fair, and in the long run, those of us with good insurance are gonna end up getting the short end of the stick!!

Q: Is there any comsumer protection out there against insurance agents?
when they allow thier clients auto policy to lapse at NO FAULT of the client? I live in Alabama…..my payment was lost in the mail, called to let them know and the local agent allowed my policy to lapse anyway and now he is unwilling to help on our behalf….do I have grounds for a lawsuit? Called the company and was told by the girl in customer service and billing that they have a company policy that thier financial reps/ agents are required to protect clients against lapse.

A: If the payment was lost in the mail….that means it did not get to the agency.

Just like….if you mail your check to the power company and it gets lost in the mail and does not arrive at the power company….your power gets shut off.

If your check to the water company gets lost in the mail….your water gets shut off.

There is no requirement that the insurance agent keep your policy in-force if the payment has not been received by the due date.

If the payment was not received by the due date….the policy lapses. Period.

The agent does not have the ability to not let it lapse. If you did not pay for the service….you don’t get the service. Insurance is no different than any other product or service you pay for each month.

If your mail is that unreliable….from now on have the payment set up as an automatic draft….or take the check to your agents office and pay in person.

Do you know how often agents and adjuster hear….”the check was lost in the mail”?

If you have been a good customer…and this has NEVER happened before….sometimes if you can bring your check register and the ft/back check copy of the check(s) written just before and just after the insurance check to your agent….sometimes…..not often…but sometimes underwriting will re-instate the policy with out a lapse in coverage.

However, if this is not the first time your policy lapsed or that a check was lost in the mail….there is nothing your agent can do for you. You will probably have to get another policy.

Your best bet is to take your documentation to your agents office and see what, if anything, can be done to re-instate the policy.

Q: Statute of limitations on in Alabama?
Need to know if anyone knows the statute of limitations for settlement by an insurance company for an auto accident that was the other party’s fault? Thanks

A: I believe it is 2 years from the date of accident in Alabama.

Q: Need somebody who can think like a Yahoo Answers moderator?
I answered a question here, and it was flagged. I thought the answer was good, and I couldn’t see where it was against the community guidelines, so I appealed the flag. However, I ended up losing — the Yahoo Answer moderator (not sure what they’re really called) decided it was a solicitation. However, I can’t see it. Do they think I’m soliciting on behalf of Google or Bing?

Here’s the answer and their decision:

“Can you pay monthly vs. yearly or semi-annually? $2000 per year, while it looks like a lot, is probably pretty decent given the situation. Actually — that’s $166 monthly (plus some fees if you actually pay monthly).. that’s not bad at all, sorry to say, and I haven’t been 18 for a long time… I paid much more than that. You should look into high risk auto insurance providers. I know that around here, they advertise on local TV all the time — ‘insurance for as low as $45′ — while it’s virtually impossible to get insurance that low, I was paying less with Titan Insurance than I was quoted for Allstate, Progressive, and State Farm (about $3,000 yearly)… You won’t get a rate anywhere near that, but these flat-rate, high risk providers tend to offer lower rates for high risk drivers than mainstream insurers do. To find a high risk insurance provider (broker, preferably) locally, search Google or Bing for ‘high risk auto insurance’ + state name + city name (or some variations without the quotes). For instance, if you live near Birmingham Alabama, search for ‘high risk auto insurance birmingham al’ or something like that. Google may be better as they tend to provide local listings alongside the web-based listings. Alternately, get a quote from every single insurance company that you can find. It’ll take a lot of work, but if you use an online insurance broker (they help you get quotes from multiple insurance companies simultaneously), it’ll save you some time. Good luck.”

Violation Reason: Solicitation
Well, I always have lost my appeals… but on this one, I thought it was a helpful answer, so I tried to fight it.

Maybe it’s not possible to win an appeal, then? That’s quite ridiculous if that’s the case.
It wasn’t just the initial report, it was after my appeal and when the Yahoo Answers staff or their contractors decided this was a solicitation.

After the first answer here, I got to thinking about it — I’ve appealed a small handful of flags since I started on here, and I’ve lost each appeal, though this is the only one that I can think of that told me which Community Guideline I violated.

It’s just aggravating to put in a decent effort to answer a question to have some slow-wit with tenuous grasp on basic word meanings and context to say this as a solicitation.

In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t a big deal… I just have little tolerance for incompetence… and it irritates me because their reasoning doesn’t make any sense.
Riki – no offense meant, as you apparently have spent a great deal of time here — but answers ARE suggestions. People are coming here to seek help — suggestions — and if suggestions are solicitations, nearly every single useful answer on this service is in violation of your version of the Community Guidelines.

It’s absolutely ludicrous to even entertain the thought that a question and answers community prohibits users from giving others suggestions in their terms of service / rules.
Riki – I apologize — in re-reading your answer a few times, I’ve come to the conclusion that you probably meant you were giving me a suggestion, not that you were suggesting that suggestions were solicitations.

Which, I would compare my poor interpretation to the deplorable job the moderators did with my appeal… but it’s different as it’s their ‘job’. Though, again — I apologize for my ‘dimwittedness’.

I’m just going to drop it — I’ve let this trivial thing consume too much of my energy today.

Thanks for all of your responses.

A: Someone skimmed the answer and filed the report. I see nothing wrong with this answer as you are not saying ‘Go with Titan Insurance’.

Q: Why did this insurance agent try to push me into buying an expensive alarm system I don’t need?
I just bought a homeowner’s insurance policy for a house my husband and I just purchased. I bought our policy over the phone from a well respected company I will not mention because of their good service overall. The agent I dealt with was absolutely insistent that my husband and I install a monitored home security system in our house because we would get (a rather paltry) discount on our policy. I tried to explain to the rep that paying for the system, including monitoring would never pay off even if we were robbed because we don’t have many things someone would want to steal. Other than an off brand flat screen TV (that’s chained with a lock under its base to a very heavy solid wood TV console and we’re even thinking about attaching that to the floor joists), an inexpensive DVD player, a shelf of DVD’s mostly bought from the bargain bin at Wal-Mart and a couple of cheap laptops (that don’t even have Windows installed on them, we’re Linux users) there’s not much of value. She kept saying that what would we do if we were hit by $20,000 in loss from a burglary. Including a motorcycle and 2 cars (all insured for theft); we would be lucky if everything we have to our name, other than the house is worth that much! Plus, we live in a rural area in Alabama with a low break-in rate; I checked county crime stats for the past 10 years and we’re well below the national average. The nosy neighbors don’t hurt either

In order to break into the house you would have to get through a standard door lock, two deadbolts on each solid core security grade entry door, various window locks and avoid setting off wireless threshold motion sensors on all exterior doors and windows that let off an ear drum bursting screech that would deafen anyone within 100 feet. I work from home so I’m literally in the house all day and anyone dumb enough to break in would run a pretty high risk of getting a .22 shoved in their face anyway. The rep was still insistent that we “needed” an alarm even after hearing all of that. I couldn’t get it through her head that it doesn’t and probably will never pay for me to own an alarm system.

She then started going over my auto policy and mentioned that it would be a wise idea to put a Lojack or Onstar system on my two vehicles because of another paltry discount! My husband and I own a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville and a 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup; which are probably the last vehicles anyone would want to steal.

She just didn’t get it that some people live frugally and only buy what they actually need. She also seemed to take great offense when I told her that I thought it was dumb to spend $1000 on an alarm system, plus monitoring fees to protect a few thousand dollars worth of stuff in a low crime area in a house thats already locked tighter than Fort Knox and practically under armed guard! My dad’s obsessed with home defense so I learned how to use a gun when I was 14.

I’m 22 and this was by far the most annoying experience I’ve had in the whole home buying process! I would have hung up on her but I needed the insurance paperwork sent to my mortgage company before the end of the business day. The insurance company I’m using doesn’t even have any connection to these other companies whatsoever! I don’t get it. Is this woman completely crazy?

A: she probably has a brother who sells the damn things, and gets a healthy kick back.

A: I’m going to give you advice against your specific request, but only because I’ve seen what “the cheapest insurance” will do to your stepson and anyone involved in an accident he may get into.

I’m going to recommend you either place him on the same insurance you are on, because you will get a multicar or multi-driver discount, and because you ideally have a good history with your insurer so they will treat your stepson a bit better.

The cheapo companies will drop him the instant a bug hits the windshield and will guarantee a protracted legal battle if he gets into an accident if he ever wants to see his money or his car again.

I’ve been with State Farm for 13 years, and I’ve been through several accidents on both sides of the bender. They’re pricier, but they’ve always treated me very well. The right company makes all the difference…..

Good luck.

PS.. He may get additional discounts on insurance with any carrier if he takes a driver’s ed class, and if he gets good grades in school.

Q: Can any body tell me what is the lowest online car insurance company?
i have an old car and sometimes i use it but i think i pay too much to insure it $55 a month and it is just liablity insurance and i am looking for an online insurance company that can give me a very low rate

A: www.esurance.com.. www.thegeneral.com

Q: Should online car insurance companies be avoided?
Should online car insurance companies (GEICO, Progressive, Esurance, etc.) be avoided? Why or why not?

A: No,there is convenience of being able to view your coverage, policy, order i.d. cards, file claims, and make changes to your policy 24 hours a day. The only downside I have seen is due to the actual consumer NOT paying attention to the e-mails that require one to review/sign and return the documents to finalize the binding of the policy.

Any online insurance carrier however, when in doubt of their stability or credibility, should check them out through the Department of Insurance prior to purchasing anything though.

Q: Where is the best place to get an online car insurance quote?
Well, I just got a new car and need to get insurance. I was wondering what the best site is for insurance quotes and where I can get the cheapest insurance? Thank you in advance!

A: There is no best place.
Insurance companies target market certain groups of people and give them their best rates. Groupings are based on prior insurance coverage, age, gender, credit rating, driving record, marriage status and even occupation. Your best source would be your local independent insurance agent. He/she knows who writes which group at what price.
Also, your agent can advise you on how to obtain the best quotes not just now, but also in six months. You may need some grooming.

Q: When buying car insurance online, do you get proof of insurance as soon as you purchase it?
My car insurance recently ran out and I understand for the holidays there will be alot of road blocks set up, and I was about to purchase some auto insurance from the Progressive site online. If i purchase it, will I get proof of insurance right away today after i make the purchase?

A: Try this site

http://www.usainsurancequotes.net/

Here you can compare quotes from different companies

Q: Is there a way I can purchase car insurance online?
I would like to purchase car insurance totally online so I can go out and drive my car today. Who could I go to for reasonable insurance?

A: I go through Geico. They have decent rates and you can always change it later if you find a better deal.

Q: Where do I buy car insurance online india?
I want to buy car insurance online.Where do i buy?

A: www.easyinsuranceindia.com is the online insurance portal (easyinsuranceindia) which you should go to purchase private car insurance policy for your car.easyinsuranceindia shows comparative quotes of more than 12 insurance companies private car insurance policy. This site gives up to 40% discount on the car insurance premium. You can buy your car insurance online instantly using your credit or debit card.

Q: Do I have to show proof of ownership of a car to get car insurance online?
Do I need to show any type of proof or give a vin number for a car to buy auto insurance online?

A: You don’t need to show proof of ownership (but if you’re doing it for a friend who owns/uses it, they should be a listed driver). A VIN usually helps determine the symbol for the car (replacement cost — needed to calculate comp and collision). But you’ll do better finding a local independent agent with lots of companies, explain any situations that may need special handling (DUI’s, teen drivers, no prior insurance, combining with homeowners/renters, etc.). The usual advice is: higher coverage (slight price increase), higher deductible (lowers the price), honesty about your record. Your credit rating can also affect the price with most companies — be prepared to be asked for a SSN, or to give them your credit score in lieu of this. Independent agents can usually get you a better price, because they can comparison shop many companies (would you rather priceline/travelocity if you’re looking for an airline ticket, or would you rather call each airline?).

Q: Where do I buy car insurance online?
Need to buy car insurance online and do not know how to go about it.

A: insurance website:

http://insurance18.cn

Q: is talking a online car insurance quote safe?
i am looking for a online auto insurance quote, but i dont’ know if the submitting the personal info will be safe?

secondly do you have some good site where can i get a onlien quote, submitting the minimum info?

A: yes, there is no problem in submitting personal info since the so called personal info is just basic info that is used to get a generic insurance quote.

that cannot be used for identity stealing.

Q: What is the cheapest online car insurance in the market today?

A: Depends on a number of things for e.g some companies reward drivers with a cheaper quote if you are claim free for 4 years, others if your’e over 50 basically if they think theres less chance of you claiming its cheaper, whilst if you are a teenager driving a sports car you will pay a small fortune so it depends on different factors I suggest you try an internet comparison site to get a guide of whats good for you, once you find a good deal remember to check it every year as insurersseem to expect most people to just renew rather than searching again.

Q: How do you buy car insurance online if you want to drive your dons vehicle?
He has full coverage but I am excluded on his policy because we have the same address. I no longer have a car so I don’t carry insurance anymore but want to be covered if I need to drive my son’s car.

A: all you have to do is have your son add you to his policy….he has to to do this because he is the policy holder….and you having the same address has nothing to do with being on his insurance….i did the same thing with my daughter her car was in my name and i added her as a driver simple as that!

Q: What is the best, cheapest, online car insurance on the internet?
For FULL COVERAGE
California, Mercedes c230, Age 25

A: When you’re talking about insurance, best + cheapest and best + online don’t go together. You want the best coverage you can afford, not the cheapest you can find. You’ll know the difference when you get in an accident and need the coverage you’ve been paying for.

Q: What are the names of those online car insurance companies with the funny commercials?

A: Progressive, Geiko.

Q: Where can I get car insurance quote online?
I’m looking for a non-biased list of quotations. I’m from New York by the way. Anybody knows any website where I can get a list of car insurance quote online?

A: Try this site
