Q: How much would it cost to get a 2006 BMW z4 fitted wit a removable hardtop?
I am considering purchasing a used bmw z4 and would like to know if i purchase a 2006 or 2007 z4 with a soft top am i able to get the dealer to install a removable hardtop and how much would it be? I live in washington state so it is important to me because it rains a lot. Any help would be greatly appriciated

A: Figure on around $3k for the hardtop and prep kit, plus installation.

More economical to find a used hardtop, or someone living in the same area as you with the same concern, selling a used car with the hardtop included.

Q: How much would the BMW Z4 cost in 2 years?
I’m talking about the new BMW Z4 that was released this year, a hard top convertible.. I just want to know how much will it be priced by year 2011.

A: Well a 2007 BMW Z4’s are selling from $22,000 – $30,000 depending on trim levels and vehicle history. But those were the last generation Z4’s. The new Z4’s price is based around $5,000 more on the MSRP and is said to hold its value longer because of more gadgets, such as the new iDrive or hard top convertible.

Well the price will vary in 2 years, depending on what trim level, condition of vehicle, crash history. Probably the cheapest you could find in my opinion, is probably something around $24,000. and that $24,000 will probabl have no A/C or some bad crash history or something like that. If you want it to still be in good condition, I would say maybe a $32,000. With the more stuff you want on it, the higher the price gets.

Those were just my opinions however, try checking other places like KBB.com or something else to see.

One last thing, You can always lease a car. I hear a 36-month lease for a brand new Z4’s start around $585 a month and with really low APR if you go directly with BMW.

Q: Can you Drive a BMW z4 in the Winter snow in Michigan. We had a sedan and it drove perfect with DSC and TC?
We are consider a BMW z4 and need advice if you can drive it in the snow? It has the safety features but how well does it work compared to the sedans?

A: I have driven several winters in a Z4. One was without snow tires, and that was a miserable experience. With snow tires, it’s fine. The 3 series is better because of the ground clearance, but you’d be fine in a Z4 on snows if they occasionally plow off the deep stuff.

Q: what color should i get my 2009 bmw z4 sdrive30i?
im planning to get a 2009 bmw z4. what color should i get it in? i know i’ll have a red interior but im kinda split between grey and white.

A: I think the best color Combination on the 2009 Z4 is the “Space Grey metallic” exterior and the “Coral Red Kansas Leather” interior. The White exterior is common and boring and in addition scratches are easily seen when chips occur in the paint such as black spots, the Space Grey Metallic exterior tends to cover that with its intermediate dark color and glossy paint. The Coral Red leather is always exotic, sporty and elegant looking. The only three exterior paints I would choose on a 09 Z4 would be Black on Red, Space Grey on Red or Deep Sea Blue on Red which makes it look like the colors on the world wide known character Superman. Over all if your stuck between Space Grey and White I would suggest the Space Grey on Red leather, the car looks more sophisticated and luxurious opposed to such a common color such as White. Hope I could help.

Q: What’s the cheapest place I can buy a BMW z4 or 5 series?
I want to buy either a BMW z4 or a 5 series (2006-2007), so I’m trying to find the best offer out there.

A: the best place and I mean you will not find a wider selection for less money is www.cars.com, bought 3 cars through there, 2 of them bmw.

You can try all the rest and compare and you will see what I mean.

Q: On a BMW Z4 M Coupe, how important is the 2 year service interval?
I am looking at a BMW Z4 M Coupe at a dealer in the UK. The car is a 56 plate and has done 14,000 miles. The 1200 service was done correctly, but the car has not had an oil service since (3 years). The countdown is still showing 500 miles until the oil service so this has not been exceeded, but the service book does state that the oil should be changed every 2 years.

Is this a problem?

Thanks all.

A: if i were you i would not listen to the service book and change your oil every 6-7 months if you want to get the most out of the car, i have an 83 trans am and i change the oil every 4 months just to keep it in good condition, if were you i would get that changed even iff the meter only read 500 miles left

Q: How much is it to buy a hard-top for my BMW Z4?
I have a 2003 bmw z4, and its a soft top, I have heard about an accessory that is a hardtop version I can place on instead of the soft top… does anyone know any info about this… whether it can electronically retract or how much it is?

A: You can buy a solid roof that simply clips over your soft top, and easily removed, not sure how much though…. try ebay

Q: what phones will work with the bluetooth in a BMW z4?
the BMW site wont list the phones that will work with the z4 bluetooth and only few phones work so does anybody know the specific phones that will work with this system?

A: This is in a list in your manual. It is keyed to Motorola phones but some RIM and Nokia work well with it also.

Q: How do I reset a BMW Z4 computer?
I have a 2003 BMW Z4 that hand a minor repair done at home. I need to reset the computer on my car since my “Service Engine” light is still on. I haven’t found a method from google :(

A: On the most recent BMW’s like the Z4 you will need a computer, but depending on the repair you did, normal everyday driving around for a few days may reset the light. But for the most part you will either need to take the car to a BMW mechanic, or look around online for a scanning tool, you can normally find them on ebay. I will warn you though the scanners are pretty costly, but pay for themselves if you do a lot of DIY.

Q: how do I alter the angle of the headlamps on a new model BMW Z4 for driving abroad?
bought a 2.3 new model BMW z4 and am driving to the south of france in a couple of weeks. would like to be able to change the angle of the lights before going but nothing in the handbook…

A: Unlike the older generation headlamp lenses where you can simply stick on a plastic lens or black tape on the front lens to block or redivert light, new projector headlamps found on your Z4 are more efficient but at the same time render all these older generation kits useless. You didn’t find anything in the handbook because there really isn’t a good way of doing it short of changing out your headlamp, which would be impractical.

Q: Should I replace my Mass Airflow Sensor on BMW Z4?
My “Service Engine” light is on and the mechanic says my mass airflow sensor is not working. Should I replace it for $450+? What does a mass airflow sensor do and what will happen if I do not replace it? This is for a 2003 BMW Z4

A: The mass airflow sensor (MAF) reads the amount of air entering the engine and adds or removes fuel accordingly to ensure the proper ratio.

If your MAF is indeed bad, you would be better off replacing it yourself. It’s in the air intake tract and is usually held in place by clamps holding the air ducts to the inlet and outlet of the MAF.

Q: Anyone ever install or own a BMW Z4 with subwoofers in the trunk?
I have on 04′ Z4 and would love to put some subs in the trunk to fill out the sound. I have never put a system in a convertible and am worried it will not produce good sound with the top up or down. The factory system pretty much rocks as is, but on certain songs with lower bass tracks the factory woofers can’t produce. I have looked at both end of the spectums as far as what to put in: was looking at 2 10 inch JL audio W6 V2, with amps, crossovers, etc. I have also looked at just throwing in a 10′ amplified bazooka tube. Any thoughts?

A: Hey man forget the amp tube. All you need for a car like that is 1 10″ t1 sub in a 3 foot box , with a 700 watt amp. Thats sure to be setting off car alarms as you roll by.

Q: What is the maintenance like after the warranty period is over for a BMW Z4? Is the car pretty reliable over?
Im getting a used 07 z4 3.0i. The warranty expires in about a year and a half. I would like to know what the maintenance is like as soon as that expires. Whats it cost every year to maintain?

A: standard lifetime maintenance for a luxery/performance vehicle is an average of $1,500 a year over the life of the car. It all depends on how often you drive it and how many things go wrong. Since your car is still fairly new, I’d expect it not to run quite so high on the maintenance for awhile. Just be sure to spend to have all the scheduled mx done.

A good mechanic will keep the car running perfectly. A bad mechanic will screw more things up and cost you more. Example: I spent $8,000 over three years maintaining my Z3 (it’s older than yours though) before figuring out that the dealership where I live was basically screwing me and finding a german performance car specialist who charges the same but knows what he’s doing.

EDIT: I should note that the lifetime quoted above is assuming you’re keeping the car for 15-20 years. If you ditch it before 100K miles your maintenance cost will likely stay low through the whole time you own it.

Q: what is the color wires for 2005 bmw z4 outside temperature sensor?
I need help with my 05 Z4.
what is the color wires for outside temperature sensor?
what is the color wires for a coolant sensor level?

A: The outside temp sensor wires are blue with a brown stripe and blue with a red stripe. The coolant level switch is brown with white stripe and brown with black stripe.

Q: Which is more effective on the BMW Z4: a glass or a mesh wind deflector?
My fiancĂ© recently purchased a BMW Z4 that came with a mesh wind deflector. He prefers the look of a plexiglass wind deflector better, but I’m concerned that it won’t be as effective as the mesh deflector in keeping wind out of the cabin. Based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, which did you find to be more effective?

A: There’s no doubt that the glass is a better deflector. Your also gonna get less noise that way. The mesh is designed to let a certain amount of air pass through, and that will increase your gas mileage but only very slightly. For the comfort and peace, go with the glass.
